4.0 out of 5 stars Great!!, June 26, 2010

This review is from: Altec Lansing AHP512 Closed Ear-Cup Stereo Headphones - 40 mm Neodymium Drivers - 3.5 mm Plug (Personal Computers)
These are the best sounding headphones i've ever had. Noise cancelling is pretty good, and the bass is great.
The only downfall is, the material that is used to make the cushions peels. And the volume piece has something wrong with it, when I turn the wheel my left ear goes out so I have to play with it? Other than that, I'm ordering a second pair!

5.0 out of 5 stars A good value, January 9, 2010
This review is from: Altec Lansing AHP512 Closed Ear-Cup Stereo Headphones - 40 mm Neodymium Drivers - 3.5 mm Plug (Personal Computers)
I purchased these New back in 2003/2004 from New Egg on closeout from $45, spent a grand total on $20 on them. I initially bought these for to use with my computer Altec Lansing 5.1 system, though more recently like in the past 3 yeas I've been using them on my stereo. While these would not be my first choice of headphones to use on a real stereo (on they have a BS inline amp) but they've done the task with little trouble aside from me having to clean the volume pot from time to time. The sound quality is rather surprising for such low-level headphones Lows, Mids, and Highs are well defined and pleasing. The build quality is superb, the only thing that has broken in the 6/7 years I've owned them is the plastic clip on the back of the inline amp broke off (woopty doo). Though while they have done a nice job on stereo duty, I would strongly recommend looking at something else (Koss, JVC, or Audio-Technica come to mind) if you really want headphone for High Fidelity listening. Though if you need a some low price headphones for a tour of duty in music or gaming on a PC then look no further.

4.0 out of 5 stars While not the greatest, a surperior audio experience., May 23, 2005

Altech Lansing's Stereo Closed Ear headphones were an impulse buy for me. I desperately needed headphones to enjoy a LAN-party experience at a friends place and I grabbed the first one I saw, not expecting much.

My expectations were blown away. For their money these headphones have a quality sound. Volume is adjustable both on the unit and via the sound control panel. The headset is comfortable, rest easily on the ears, and arrows just enough of a gap between the skin and the phones for your ears to 'breathe' and not get sweaty after extensive use.
