5.0 out of 5 stars Altec Lansing 2 pc Speakers
These are just right for what i needed. Sleek design with very good sound backed by a good name. Both my children have their 5-7speaker surround sound systems ( WITH MANDATORY HEADPHONES) my wife and i wanted a 2 pc set for our laptop. Very nice match with our laptop. Free shipping with Amazon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average speakers, but sweet relief for some cell customers
These speakers are all right, well built and look fairly unique on the desk top. Nothing to write home about as far as high-fidelity goes. Clear sound, no bass.

However, I bought these speakers for my work place for one reason and one reason only-- the incredibly annoying "Cell Phone Gallop" that is heard through so many other PC speakers does not impact these...

These speakers are all right, well built and look fairly unique on the desk top. Nothing to write home about as far as high-fidelity goes. Clear sound, no bass.

However, I bought these speakers for my work place for one reason and one reason only-- the incredibly annoying "Cell Phone Gallop" that is heard through so many other PC speakers does not impact these speakers. I'm not sure how "OK" it is to list that phone carrier, but if you have this issue, you know dang well who it is as this issue is well known. According to the carrier's own site, the only cure was to "move the phone somewhere else away from the speakers". Neat-o.

I used to hear that "dit-duh-dit-duh-dit...." interference from the cell phone on my speakers all the time. Extremely aggravating. Not anymore. If you suffer from this issue, and just need some speakers to provide some noise, these speakers will please you. If you want big sound, bass, etc... keep shopping.

5.0 out of 5 stars great speakers, November 17, 2006
These speakers sound great especially for such a reasonable price. I purchased these to have at work so I could listen to my iPod. With the previous portable speakers I had there was a hissing sound in the background and the sound quality was average. With these Altec Lansing speakers the difference was very noticeable - no hiss, great full sound. These speakers were hooked up when I went to Target so I was able to listen to them before I purchased them. After buying them I compared them to the harmon kardon speakers that came with my computer, these Altec Lansing speakers blow those away.

I also listened to 2 other models by Altec Lansing - the VS2321 model was only $20 more and included a subwoofer, the next model up was about $80 again with a subwoofer - both had fantastic sound and I would highly recommend them. Because I was buying these for work I didn't want to spend too much so the VS2320 model works great, for home I would consider bumping up to one of the other models to get that additional boost of sound from the subwoofer. Altec Lansing delivers great full sound for an unbeatable price.

ok when I first got these speakers I would have given them at least 4 stars. Good sound for the money.

But I didn't write a review. Now, 4 months later, I get no sound from the right speaker; the one with the control knobs. I checked out everything I could think of, but nothing out of the right speaker. When I plug in headphones, I get both channels just fine which is why I still give them 2 stars. I read the other reviews before choosing to buy these so I figure it's only fair to warn other buyers that they may have the same bad luck as me and get the ones that break down AFTER the 30 days in which you can return them. 4 months for $25 is just NOT enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, Really, for not being Bose, October 30, 2005

For a set without a subwoofer, this isn't a bad set of speakers. I wanted something that runs reams around my Mac Mini's built-in speaker, or even the speaker built into my Westinghouse 17" monitor. The Altec Lansing VS2220 fits the bill.

I purposely stayed away from units with a subwoofer, because after all, I do live in an apartment and have to be as considerate of my neighbors as I expect them to be of me. As I write this, I'm listening to my favorite Supremes song on iTunes, "Nothing But Heartaches", and for those familiar with the wonderful Funk Brothers backup group that exemplified the early Motown sound, the alto sax is well-separated and evident on the right speaker. However, even with iTunes' equalizer set to Bass Booster, James Jamerson's ubiquitous strong bass line is muffled and subdued somewhat. Well, I've got wonderful headphones if I want to listen to him full bore without disturbing the neighbors.

Until I finally move into a house, this will do for now! All I need now is a way to listen to the radio with the computer without being online (using dial-up; perhaps with Griffin's RadioShark). If your needs are as simple as mine, the VS2220 is readily available, inexpensive, and is a vast improvement over what your computer came with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Value for money, great sound, September 14, 2008

I bought this about 8 months ago for my PC. I was searching for a Logitec model when I came across this in a store in Abu Dhabi. I was surprised with the clarity and the bass from a 3" unit. Much better than a SONY boombox with more RMS power I got for my mother-in-law. For PC use it is more than enough. Those who expect the same deep bass and extreme clear highs as the high end siblings should think these speakers are not meant to fill your lounge with sound. I am even thinking of getting one for bedroom listening.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good speaker, May 15, 2007
This review is from: Altec Lansing VS2320 2-Piece music & gaming speaker system (black & silver) (Personal Computers)
I use these speakers with a PC for general purposes. Good sound. Useful. The only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that I have not tested these speakers enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound, March 26, 2007
This review is from: Altec Lansing VS2320 2-Piece music & gaming speaker system (black & silver) (Personal Computers)
More like outstanding sound for computer speakers, and for the price you can't go wrong. Had to mess with the equalizer a bit to get the most out of these speakers, but for listening to music while working, very impressive. Thats coming from someone who has an 800 watt system for playing "classic rock" LOUD.

Very nice speakers for a good price. I like the feature that allows you top plug in a headphone jack.
