Innovative Design Keeps Your Desk Looking Sharp
The Altec Lansing VS2521 features a unique design that maximizes your desk space while maintaining a high-quality sound. With its high-tech metal grilles, the VS2521 not only looks great but allows you to position the speakers either vertically or horizontally. You also can interlock the two speakers horizontally and place them beneath your monitor--a great space-saving feature.

Smart design extras include a convenient front-panel headphone jack for private listening so you don't wake up the neighbors, and a front-panel input jack that lets you easily plug in your MP3 player without disconnecting the speaker system from your computer, or reaching blindly around the back of the system, searching for the right plug. And thanks to color-coded cables, you'll be up and listening in seconds.

Great, High-Quality Sound
The two satellite speakers feature custom-engineered 2-1/2-inch full-range drivers in a unique cabinet with asymmetrical baffling that reduces standing waves. What this means is great, clean sound with less distortion. The satellites have a frequency range from 180 Hz to 20 kHz, and are powered at 7 Watts per channel. Each satellite speaker measures 4.3 x 4.1 x 8.7 inches (W x D x H).

The powered subwoofer features a large 5-1/4-inch long throw driver that'll have you thumping along to your favorite music and movies. The bass is strong and tight, and goes all the way down to 30 Hz with a power of 14 Watts into 8 ohms. The subwoofer measures 9.4 x 8.3 x 8.3 inches (W x D x H).

Together, the system has a frequency response from 30 Hz to 20 kHz, meaning you won't miss a single note.

The Altec Lansing VS2521 is backed by a one-year warranty.

What's in the Box
Two satellite speakers, one subwoofer, color-coded cables, quick connect instructions.

With an elegant high-tech look, the VS2521 will have your desk looking great.

4.0 out of 5 stars These just sound right., January 18, 2009

This review is from: Altec Lansing VS2521 2.1 Powered Speaker System (Personal Computers)
Purchased these on impulse for my wife's notebook. They sound excellent. I like having separate treble and bass adjustments on the satellite speaker; wish the power button was there too instead of on the sub-woofer. Satellites are large enough to produce pleasing mid-range tones that are often neglected on PC speakers.

I'd buy another set of these before either of the logitechs I've purchased over the last year for my PC or the kids'... (x-240 or z-2300)

3.0 out of 5 stars mediocre for music, May 15, 2009

This review is from: Altec Lansing VS2521 2.1 Powered Speaker System (Personal Computers)
I had to replace my old Altec Lansing acs45 because the cable/plug broke and [I thought] wasn't worth repairing. The acs45 was such a great 2.1 system, so I thought I'll stick with AltecLansing and ordered the vs2521.
I use a speaker system only to listen to music, no gaming etc..
What I liked: plenty of power, bright high tones, kind of stylish.
What I didn't like: overwhelming sub woofer (hard to adjust to reasonable levels), very poor mid-tones, awkward wiring and on/off switch.
NOTE: the acs45 10-year old speakers were MUCH better than these! Ironic. Couldn't Altec just use the same circuitry in a new shell?
I returned these speakers mainly because of the poor midtone range.
I guess I'll have to spend about twice as much or even more if I want better music playback quality.

This review is from: Altec Lansing VS2521 2.1 Powered Speaker System (Personal Computers)
I purchased these speakers based on Amazon reviews. For the money and free shipping they are worth it even with some short comings. Treble is not very good, but the Bass is very good. Wires could have been more lengthy for better separation. Even though these are for the computer, you still need separation for better sound as I do not like my speakers right next to one another. The pisser for me was that they incorporated the speaker for the Sub Woofer on the bottom with no grill or cover and I almost put my finger right through it when I picked it up, so "Be Careful When Handling". Also there are no info sheets other than warranty info, so I give it a 4.
