5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound for such a little device!
I was shopping for an iPod alarm clock, and finally got one, an iLive, but the sound was horrible. So I decided to just get some iPod speakers, and use the iPod's alarm function.

I brought my iPod into Target and set it on different speakers to see how it sounded. This one was one of the best sounding out of all of them. Sure the $250 were a little better,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy if you have a Blackberry
The speakers are fine by themselves; however, I wanted them for my office, and my company also happens to issue Blackberries to employees. The speakers are apparently not "shielded", and therefore emits a loud "buzz" every time the Blackberry checks for messages or receives calls (every 3-5 minutes). Super annoying. Other than covering my phone in tinfoil, there's no way...

Sure the $250 were a little better, but this one seemed pretty close to me, and it's very small, and has a 24 hour battery life running on 4 AA's. You can also use the AC adapter for power.

It sounds great, and I'm very pleased with the size. The one from Best Buy had bad sound, and was big and bulky.

Another thing that is nice is that it also comes with a carrying case for traveling with it.

I'd definitely reccommend these speakers for your iPod!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great portable speaker, September 10, 2007

The sound quality of the IM3c is very good at the mid to low level. This speaker system is solely used in my office, so cranking it up too loud is not an option. Its compact size makes it easy to place virtually anywhere. One feature I really like is the volume stays the same after turning the unit back on after it has been shut down, unlike the "JBL On Stage".

Other than covering my phone in tinfoil, there's no way to stop it, so I will be returning the speakers for a higher quality shielded set.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. It sounds awesome! We both love it. We have the older Ipod Nano and it works perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Travel speakers, October 22, 2007

A good item to have for traveling. It is small when open and folds up for easy transportion. Keep in mind, it is not a whole house stereo. Just a way to listen to music in a smaller setting. And it works well for this. Follow the instructions for actually turning the unit on and it makes a good player for a hotel room. The music is clear and it beats the standard clock radio usually found in a hotel room. Just don't expect this item to do what it isn't designed to do.

I have had a previous version of this device for a while. I've been very happy with it except for the fact that it eats batteries when left powered on. This version fixes that problem. My wife and I like to fall asleep with podcasts playing on our iPod. The iPod will power down when finished with a playlist. We cue up a few while we are camping and then listen just like at home. The old version of this device would stay powered after the iPod was done playing. This used up our batteries way too fast. The new version will go to sleep when the audio is completed. No more dead batteries. Thanks for the fix! We leave the old one by the bed at home now since it can be powered by AC. This one stays in our "ready-to-go kit" for traveling. We are happy campers!

I have always loved Altec Lansing products. This is no exception. However, pray that you never need service on these units. I lost one of the battery covers on the back and was told I needed to send the entire unit in just for the battery cover. So, I did. Seven months later I still haven't received my unit back. At this point I don't think I will ever get it back and am considering purchasing another unit of a different brand. I can't even get a response to any of my inquiries as to the status of the unit. Sad!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional sound!!, September 28, 2009

For a package so little, the quality of the sound is the equivalent of a much larger bookshelf system... and the bass response is HEARABLE....
