Great speaker option for Sansa Connect,
By MAC (San Antonio, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Altec Lansing inMotion iM413 Portable Audio System for Sansa (Electronics)
I own a Sansa Connect and wanted to find a portable and reasonable sounding set of speakers to acccompany it for use at my office, home, and other locations where I might prefer not to use earphones. The iM413 seemed to fit the bill nicely so I bought one this weekend. The build quality is excellent and the overall sound is good for speakers of this size, especially when using the bass boost and surround sound functions controlled by the included remote. The tone is pleasing and easily heard across an average sized room even at relatively low to moderate volume settings. There is some distortion at the highest volume, but I won't be using that level much anyway, so I don't find that unacceptable for my needs. The system looks great with the Connect attached and presents a very clean, high tech profile. I particularly like that the speaker dock also charges the player. The Connect has a short battery life when using WiFi, so being able to stream Internet radio for several hours with no concern for the battery running low is a big "plus". I can listen to and download plenty of music and still have a fully charged battery when I'm ready to go moble with just the player. The iM413's FM reception has been quite good and it is nice having another option for music that my Connect itself does not currently have. Since the system is also compatable with the Sansa c200 and e200 series of MP3 players, both my son (e260) and duaghter (c250) can also make use of the iM413 when I'm not using it. The only problem will be the fighting to get it! My one compliant is the FM antenna which is a single, thin wire. It tends to get in the way when moving the unit around and seems easy to accidently damage or pull off if it were to snag on something, etc. Perhaps a small, fold-away telescoping antenna may have been a better option in my opinion, espcially for a portable system. Overall, however, this is not a big enough issue to stop my liking the iM413 so much. I wish it were not so expesnive ($99 at BestBuy), but as they become more available, I'm sure there will be some great deals out there before too long. For what I use it for, the iM413 is a great product and I would recommend to anyone looking for a solid sounding, portable speaker system for the Sansa Connect, e200, or c200 series.

What's with the antenna?,
By DHK (Brea, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Altec Lansing inMotion iM413 Portable Audio System for Sansa (Electronics)
It's an excellent product, and I'm quite satisfied with the quality of the speakers. The only missing feature is a built-in alarm and a clock. But what I really wanted to point out is the antenna. In the product description and in the accompanying picture, it lists the product as having a "telescopic antenna," and shows it in the picture. However, when I received the item, the system had a wire antenna. It's quite annoying and out of sync with the portable design of the entire unit. It's a 55-inch wire that dangles off the speakers. A complete design flaw in my opinion! Why the discrepancy? Are there older and newer versions of this model? Whoever you buy from, double check with the seller if you care about this.

Every aftermarket product available is always for an ipod. For those of us that actually do research before we buy, we find that the Sansa is a better product. I was happy to hear that Altec Lansing stepped up and out of the ipod trend to offer this system.
This is an excellent unit. Drop the sansa in and you are set. It charges the sansa and the sound is crystal clear. Would you expect anthing less from Altec Lansing? When your sansa isn't on hand the FM tuner is very handy. Don't look for other systems, this is the one!!

GREAT SPEAKERS,

This review is from: Altec Lansing inMotion iM413 Portable Audio System for Sansa (Electronics)
What great speakers. I needed some kind of speaker system for my Sansa MP3 player. I searched around looking for something specifically for this unit. I didn't expect sound like I get from my big stereo but the quality from these speakers was more than I expected. All I needed was some way to listen to my music and this fills the bill. I really like the fact that I can unplug it and take it outside and run the unit on batteries. This will be great for camping this summer. I'd definately recommend these speakers to anyone looking for a sound system for their MP3 player.

After researching the cheaper Sansa-compatible speaker/docking units available, I decided to try this one. Since I will be listening to my Sansa MP3 player more with the speakers than anything else, I wanted quality sound for a decent price, and the customer reviews of the cheaper speaker/docking units all seemed to complain of tinny sound quality and cheap manufacture.
I am completely satisfied with the sound and overall quality of this unit. It is compact, lightweight and fits easily under my desk; it has both bass boost and "surround" sound (which, I believe, are simple manipulations of the existing sound ranges, but they work) which was a definite selling point for me. It is also extremely convenient not to have to plug my MP3 into the PC to charge it. If you are not bent on getting the cheapest speaker/dock unit there is, and want quality sound for your Sansa player, I highly recommend this one.

Affordable speaker system,

I've had the IM413 for about a week. the box said it was for Sansa connect and e200. I have the new Sansa Fuze and it worked perfectly fine with the Fuze to dock and charge. the radio antenna is not sturdy, just a wire that you need to keep straight to get good reception. however, the sound quality for my Fuze is very good. this is second Altec lansing speaker system. I have an older version which is still working great as well. it's a great sound system for the price.

I purchased the Altec Lansing iM413 "base station" (speaker dock plus) for the Sandisk e280 MP3 and what an accessory it is. It maxes the output of the mp3 and has an FM tuner to boot as well as a handy remote control. The audio quality and operation along with its appearance is top shelf all the way. It comes with a flat black base and a shiny black superstructure. And what is neatest of all is the metal grill over the speaker areas. And it has some weight to it which is a plus factor. It comes with an ac power pack and can also be powered with 3 AA batteries for complete portability. Go for it; you'll love it.

Finally a Good Sansa System,

The sound is great for this tiny system. I own the Altec IM510, and this is a VAST improvement over that. The system works easily once you plug in your player.
The sound is surprsingly good. The AM/FM player works well and the Remote makes it much easier to navigate than the IM510. If you have a Sansa, get this product!

I bought this a year ago-it's very convenient--esp at Christmas time when I want to tote all my Christmas music w/ me to the parent's house. I find I take it to the beach, park, or anywhere you want to enjoy music. The sound quality is excellent for such a small package. My only 2 complaints are the 1) the wire antena that must dangle along wherever you take it and 2) that you can't control the Surround sound or bass boost unless you have the remote control with you. Other than that, Altec is a great speakerdock for the $$. Glad to see someone making after market products for the Sansa!
