I have followed Tyrese since the bus ride with the coke song. I hear him praising his girl/woman and as a woman, I think it is sexy. On this cd, he wants one girl, two whips and so on. Then on the second cd he wants her to get down and suck his #&@* like she created it, she is a hoe, and Scrappy even refers to hitting a woman with the chrome and so on and so on. I am confused. I love rap and think he is a great rapper as well, but when are WE going to stop degrading ourselves and our own people. I have become so tired of it. Now, I am glad I purchased the cd, then I am upset of the disrespect. Can a rapper rap without degrading women and have respect for the human that is responsible for placing them in existance?Listen to the original masters of rap, it wasn't none of this non sense being displayed, yet their music sold and now needs to be modeled after. Tyrese, I love ya and ya music, but I am not down with the degrading of the women.

I really liked disc one. It's worth the price alone and I wish he had more than 10 tracks on it. I agree his rapping isn't great, but it's not horrible either. Disk 1 alone is one of the best R&B on a single album i've heard in a while. Keep it up Tyrese. Black Ty can make a few cameos in the future but no full albums!

I would have to say that I am not the biggest Tyrese fan but the brother is sexy. I really love the first CD in this double CD. The first definitely showcases his smooth R&B tone. However, when you pop in that second CD the mood gets instantly ruined. I am not sure who told him he should attempt a rap career but they LIED!!! All in all I like the CD would recommend if you appreciate R&B. I am on the fence between a 3 and 4 star rating.

I love this album! It's on repeat right now in my cd player! The title first of all is FIYA and I'm loving the fact that he did a 2 disc. The R&B disk was NICE. Love every song on there! And the rap side...WHO SAID TYRESE CAN'T RAP? And why he can't? Just because he don't rap like Snoop Dog or Kurupt or The Game...doesn't mean he can't rap. He got his own style! I love the way he raps. He has a nonchalant, laid back sexy style of rapping and I'm loving it!
If you like Tyrese you'll love his new cd, Alter Ego!!! Five stars no doubt! I LOVE THis CD!

I don't even like Tyrese like that....................,

Okay let me start by saying I loved the chocolate goodness that was Tyrese on the bus in the Coke commercials then I lost that love when he played Cody, Jody whatever ( how are you a thug on a bike ) couldn't understand that. All that said I am trying to get you to understand that this is an unbiased review from someone who doesn't like him or dislike him ( that much ). Cd 1 is great it took me back to when I adored his silky voice. Nice slow jams extremely sexy vocals I wanted to mail him my panties ( drawers for my fellow country fam ) NOW ........ Cd 2 Black Ty ........ Well..... I like it, no it is not Jay -Z ( I am a die hard fan of Jay mind you and his last album sucked anotha story), but he never said he was. Tyrese is an entertainer and if we will pay our money to Diddy's non rapping A** then why can't Black Ty get some $$$ and he sounds wayyyy better than Diddy's talking over beats. All I am saying is give him a chance for his first try it isn't that bad.Look at it this way at the price it is selling for you are getting an unbelievable cd and an extra gift. If you like rap then you'll be happy about your free gift, if not then pass it on to a rap lover and you still will have what you paid for.

when i heard "how you gonna act like that" and "signs of love making" i really thought tyrese was a great singer and really knew how to put it down in the R&B level, also i had never heard of him before these songs besides "baby boy" which was alright. but this album is terrible. the first CD may be alright, songs such as "one" and "lights on" are really the only decent songs, if you could even use the word decent. he says 'shawty' way too much, and his 2nd disk which is all rap, is absolutely terrible, he shouldn't rap at all. if you liked "pullin me back" by chingy and have heard "one" already, don't think that this CD will make you like tyrese more, because it's a terrible CD.

Gotta give him credit!,

I must say that I loooooove Tyrese! That is my baby!! disc one of Alter ego is just what we have been missing.... great R&B music from someone who really CAN sing. It has been long overdue. The 13 songs on this disc let's you know that Tyrese still has what it takes to make you wanna do the......to HIM! But anyway, the songs are great slow jams for our times and more importantly, he sounds better than ever! My favorite song is One and Turn you out! Just the lyrics alone make me want to go find that man!!! lol. Black Ty, his alter ego, must be suppressed in the future. I think that he does have some skills, all it takes is a little more practice, on pad. But I didn't like all the cussin and stuff from him, it just is like him. But this is why he calls it Alter Ego. He says there are two sides to him. Frankly, I like the soft thug side, baby. As far as creative efforts, Tyrese, did his thing. I give him much credit because it takes alot to share your creativity with the masses and hoping that they will understand you more than reject you. So as far as Black Ty is concerned, nice try. Close but no cigars...almost...maybe.... you get the picture. If you love R&B with Tyrese's voice attached to it, this is a great cd for you. He is giving us the rap cd, but you will pay for the R&B and it is definitely worth it!

5 STARS BASED ON THE REASON FOR BUYING THE CD...,

Disc one is worth the cost alone and I love it. I get to hear his raspy/sensual voice. Disc two was a bonus and it's okay also, especially since I am not a big rap fan in the first place. It did seem to feature a lot of other rappers, but he isn't the first to do it...and I'd be willing to bet...he won't be the last.
I recommend this to all the "TRUE" Tyrese fans out there!

My brother told me that Tyrese had a new album long before I knew about it. He went on to tell me that the album is called Alter Ego and that it's a double-disc: the first disc is Tyrese singing normally, while the second disc is him RAPPING as his alter-ego, Black-Ty. THEN my brother told me that Black-Ty's rapping is so bad that he'd rather listen to Kevin Federline. If that sounds harsh, it's actually pretty accurate.
But the sad thing is, the singing disc really isn't all that. It's a slim ten tracks, but there still really are no standouts. It's the same story with Tyrese: he's got one hell of a voice, but his lyrics are just terrible (Ruben Studdard would later follow in his footsteps, but I digress). I mean, "One" and the Lil Jon-assisted "Turn Ya Out" are okay, but they're no classics. "Better to Know" is a ridiculous song about having a lady as a F buddy rather than a girlfriend, and "Signs of Love Makin' Part 2" isn't much more interesting than its predecessor. Finally, "Hurry Up" doesn't rank as one of R. Kelly's best compositions. As far as Black-Ty's disc, well, there are so many weak bars here that XXL could publish an entire Step Your Rap Game Up ISSUE with them (for example: "I ain't changed; I just changed my name and added a hyphen" from "What It Is"). I mean, honestly; one listen to Tyrese's rap during the third verse of "Nobody Else" told me point blank that he was clearly not a rapper, and this disc further proves that. Songs are wack enough when he's by himself, as evidenced by the tepid "Broke A** N's", but matters get even worse when guest stars come aboard. On "Get It In", a good Scott Storch beat is wasted by below-average rapping by both Ty and Method Man. And "U Scared" (with David Banner and Lil' Scrappy) has all sorts of problems. First, it has the non-threatening chorus: "You scared/You scared/You scared, MF/You scared". Then, Banner appears to be having trouble rapping over his own beat, and the beat itself sounds like a low-key version of Dr. Dre's beat from Eve's "Let Me Blow Ya Mind". It gets worse from there. For some strange reason, Kurupt (who hasn't been dope since "Doggy Dogg World") shows up on four tracks, and he sounds like he doesn't even want this. "Fly Away" is a dumb track that showcases Ty and Kurupt giving encouraging words about their respective rap careers over a conference call. And "Get Low" is downright disgusting, but that's probably because the song also features Too $hort (as well as Kurupt and Snoop Dogg). Snoop and Kurupt also appear on "Roll the Dice", which sounds like a throwaway 213 song. I don't know if there's really anything else to say about Tyrese, other than he STILL needs to get some serious writers. Rap ain't looking too bright for him, and although he's a good actor, no one ever sees the movies he's in. But he'd better get his mind right soon because Alter Ego isn't worth picking up.
