Easy guide to Alternative health., July 25, 2010
This review is from: The Alternative Medicine Cabinet (Paperback)
I found The Alternative Medicine Cabinet a fantastic resource for natural remedies. I especially liked the details and individual pages on blueberries, eggs, spinach, wild caught salmon, avocado, filtered water, and olive oil.
I found it helpful that it wasn't written in hard-to-pronounce words and was applicable for even the most nivice of alternative patients.
To a religious alternative medicine reader who devours said books Gruver's adaptation may not seem anything new; but for the reader with little time, or a first timer will find this easy to read and simple in it's explanations.
I thought "Kathy's Top 10 Picks" was a great, quick guide to nutrition.
Kathy Gruver's The Alternative Medicine Cabinet is a straight to the point resource for all considering small lifestyle changes for better health.

"Recipes" to Great Health!, May 23, 2010
This review is from: The Alternative Medicine Cabinet (Paperback)
Gruver provides interesting and helpful ways to better care for yourself and your family.
This is a great self help tool for the novice as well as those experienced in natural health protocols.
Pick up a self help health book today and almost ways you will find a chapter on "Be your own advocate." Patients need to help themselves, rather than solely rely on western medical doctors.
Demand for better health care is putting the general public on alert that they need to delve deeper into how to prevent chronic and degenerating diseases. Being your own advocate requires you to research and explore more natural alternatives and this book is a great primer. I particularly liked her in depth Table of contents. I found that I could quickly go to sections and chapters of higher interest and learn new information. She covers the benefits of massage, herbal therapy, healthy pregnancy, stress, and homeopathy for adults and children.
She has a fantastic chapter on her top 10 nutritional picks and her top 10 quick health tips. She goes into depth on the benefits of blueberries, eggs, spinach, wild caught salmon, avocado, filtered water, and olive oil.
I liked that many of her suggestions were easy to incorporate and implement; making it easy for young and old! She discusses back pain and recommends acupuncture.
Her chapter on sleep suggests many ways to get help the insomniacs, and she offers advice for depression and anxiety in natural forms.
Obesity has its own chapter and her ideas should be taken to heart by all readers. She presents so many aspects of achieving good health that I applaud her ability to explain it and organize it so easily. As a health practitioner I would use this as a self help guide for my patients and family.
As a professional I learned more about natural ways to help patients. This book continues to provide resources and education for those that want to help themselves. Natural health is the way to a healthy longevity. She does a wonderful job of spreading that word. Her message on how to change is inspiring. Her goal is to educate, teach and enlighten. She shares her heart and soul with you in her book.
Gruver provides her perspective on how to stay sick, how to get healthy and discusses the attitudes surrounding healing and getting well.
