5.0 out of 5 stars I don't use them as a candy
but as a remedy for an upset stomach or nausea. They're fantastic for that. If you don't suffer from digestive problems and/or you can't stand ginger, I wouldn't buy these. But if you do, I would HIGHLY recommend these.

1.0 out of 5 stars taste more like cinnamon than ginger
I was very disappointed with these. From reading most of the reviews, I expected a really nice strong ginger mint. If there is ginger in these, it is largely masked by cinnamon or some similar spice. I am really sorry I got them. Most of the Altoids mints pretty good. If you want the taste of ginger, try Newman's Own.

If you cried when these babies disappeared from stores, rejoice! Only for non-wussies, ginger Altoids pack serious bite. Bonus: not only do they eradicate all eughiness from your mouth, they pack the gingerrific quality of easing nausea.

5.0 out of 5 stars They are great!, April 9, 2007
This review is from: Altoids Curiously Strong Mints, Ginger, 1.76-Ounce Tins (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
The first original curiously strong mints date all the way back to 1780, when they were created by the London-based company Smith & Company - their charter was signed by King George III! In the nineteenth century, Smith & Company was purchased by Callard & Bowser, Inc., and in the twentieth century Callard & Bowser was acquired by the American firm Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company. But, through it all, Altoids have survived, a never-ending tradition of excellence!

Now, the Altoid brand has been enlarged to include these wonderful ginger mints. A long time ago I found that ginger helped me with motion sickness, well, imagine my surprise when I found out that these snappy little ginger mints help that out as well. Overall, I really like these candies. Yes, they are strong, and quite gingery - if you are not a fan of ginger, then you probably will not like them. As for me, I think they are great!

5.0 out of 5 stars altoids, March 18, 2008
This review is from: Altoids Curiously Strong Mints, Ginger, 1.76-Ounce Tins (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
Iv,e used the ginger altoids for sea sickness and they seem to help if you take them constantly.... every 2 or 3 hours i pop in my mouth 3 or 4

I,m not crazy about ginger but it works fine with no drowsy side effects or dry mouth. So i think its much better than real medicine dramimine etc

I wish they would sell them at a store like the other flavored altoids they used to but I can,t find them so thats why I purchased on-line.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Mints, January 28, 2008
This review is from: Altoids Curiously Strong Mints, Ginger, 1.76-Ounce Tins (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
I was glad when altoids made Ginger Mints, because they are a great change from the ususal flavors and Ginger has always been good for me when I am nauseated, while I have my allergy attacks and have to take a bunch of Medication that makes me sick. This is alot better than sucking on a dried ginger or asparagus root.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite, February 6, 2007
This review is from: Altoids Curiously Strong Mints, Ginger, 1.76-Ounce Tins (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
I am a big fan of Altoids and have been for years. When I was a child, my English mother gave me candied ginger and, even then, I fell in love with the sharp taste of the rhizome. I like it in all of it's many forms and the stronger the better. When I discovered that Altoids made a Ginger Mint, I was entranced and immediately ordered a box. After a short, but anxious, wait for delivery, they arrived and I was in heaven. They were all a ginger fan could hope for. Sharp, pungent and spicy in a beautiful gold box. If you prefer ginger beer to ginger ale, then this will be your candy mint of choice. If you prefer the robust taste of Vernor's to the subtlety of Canada Dry, try these mints. You will not be disappointed, I think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe too good, November 11, 2010

These are really, really good. In fact, they are so good, that maybe they fail as a tasty treat, since the urge to have another and another is so strong.

The licorice altoids -- I like them, but I can have one. The mint altoid are also fairly good. These ginger altoids are about 50 times more desirable.

This a my favorite Altoid flavor by far, it is very tasty, it is however pretty "hot" so if you do not like heat these mints are not for you. I am the only one in my family who really likes them they can be intense but then I love Atomic Fire Balls as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ginger Altoids can take the edge off headaches, August 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Altoids Curiously Strong Mints, Ginger, 1.76-Ounce Tins (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
Many of the reviews for ginger Altoids have cited their usefulness for alleviating indigestion. I would like to suggest that they can also help take the edge off headaches. I have suffered from migraines all my life. A few years ago, wishing to kick the aspirin habit, I looked for alternative cures. One thing I discovered was ginger. At first sign of a headache, I eat some candied ginger or Altoids, or drink a ginger ale (Reed's is best!) Depending on the severity of the headache, I notice improvement within 10 minutes. Migraines are more difficult. For those, it might take several hours, and then the headache tapers off gradually. It used to take 2-3 days before my migraines were gone.
The ginger Altoids work as well as candied ginger, and they taste a lot better, in my opinion.

I've purchased Ginger Altoids in the past, but they are getting harder to find at normal retail outlets. Good thing Amazon is here. And at a very good price.

Great ginger flavour, lots of zest, just like Ginger Altoids!
