We are using this product in court with trial laptops. The prosecution's side of the courtroom has its own built in table provided. We were provided nothing. The cart was easy to put together, is light, and has a sleek looking design. Easily moves to where needed and adjusts easily. Government's IT personnel commented about how nice it is. Love it.

This cart stands out for its sturdiness, ability to slide under low furniture, ease and range of adjustment, and handsome appearance. It looks great in my living room and was a cinch to put together. I purchased it after trying out the larger version my husband uses as a desk. There are three things to think about, however:

1) The high-gloss surface may require a mousepad; I need one even with my laser mouse. I'm considering sticking on a piece of paper instead, which will help with #2.

2) In the tilted position, the lip on either side may not be high enough to keep your mouse from sliding off, especially when using a mousepad. I have to be careful to place my wireless mouse close to my (13") laptop where the lip is highest.

3) The compact surface is obviously not wide enough to use with wide-armed chairs or the middle of a bed. I use it while lounging on the sofa where no arm intervenes and it is just wide enough to use comfortably.

The Altra laptop cart is the most sturdy cart I've come across and is nicely finished. The only problem I encountered is the slick black top has no texture for my mouse to sense any movement. The problem was easily fixed by using a mouse pad.

I have had this about a month and have had no problems with it being shaky. It's very sturdy and I type very fast so it gets a workout. I use it with my 18.4" Sony laptop and a mouse, and it all fits. I have never had it shake or shimmer. I really love this table. It's very handsome and yet seems to almost disappear in the room, blending in with the furniture. It rolls around beautifully, but doesn't move when I'm using it. It's easy to tilt and adjust, but I just leave it in the one position as I use it while I'm on the couch. As with others, the only problem I have is with the high gloss top, my mouse needs a pad but this is no problem. Maybe someday I'll master the touchpad and won't have to worry about this. I've had other tables, and this one is by far the best. AND, my hubby put it together quickly with no swearing !!!

My father-in-law needed a table he could use while sitting in a wheelchair. After searching Fort Worth and finding nothing but fold-up TV trays, I found this wonderful table on line. It exceeded all expectations. It has a large surface making it very versatile, it is sturdy and level, and even rolls on his thick carpeting.

Perfect for large laptop. Easy to adjust height. Moves easily to different areas on smooth casters. Really good for small spaces where room is at a premium.

Though apparently the solid construction and high-tech appearance promise great stability, they are misleading. I find it impossible to type or mouse on this platform without the laptop shaking and shuddering, vibrating before my eyes, unless I keep my feet on its base and keep my hands firmly pressing down to dampen the platform's movement. This reduces the shaking, but never completely eliminates it. Raising your knees to brace up against the tilted platform helps a bit, but do you really want to do that for long?

The piano black tabletop is just thick heavy paint and seems to scratch easily.

I would not want to do a lot of text typing on it... but as a portable chair-side stand to watch videos, it is passable as long as you keep hands off it.

Casters are a bad idea, as the whole cart moves too freely. In retrospect, a four-legged laptop stand would have been better, so long as it still offered height and tilt adjustments.

Best choice among all those I researched on the Internet. It's sturdy, portable, and pretty. But don't use for anything heavy, like a small TV. It's perfect for a laptop.

I am very happy with this purchase. I held the stand in my amazon shopping cart for a while debating over whether I should get it. I was worried about it not being sturdy enough and the reviews claiming it 'shaky'. I have a reclining side couch and have to move the stand around when I raise and lower the recliner and it slides nice and smooth even on carpet. It's wide enough for my laptop and a mouse pad, needed because of the shiny surface. It matches my laptop exactly and looks very nice in the living room. It just 'blends' in with the decor. The adjustable height and tilt option are great. I put it together myself in about 20 minutes. No additional tools were needed. I love it!

I've been using this cart for a few months to hold my laptop while on my couch. my couch has a decent clearance from the floor so I had no problem rolling the base underneath. This biggest problem with this is the ridge intended to keep your laptop from taking a header onto the floor is not large enough. Assuming you don't have kids,pets, or are clumsy yourself this cart works fine. One bump though and your laptop will be on the floor. You can adjust the angle to reduce the incline to solve this problem, however; that completely defeats the purpose of this cart in my opinion.
