The depth and beauty of Testa's songs are inexhaustible. Gianmaria is the reason to fall in love with contemporary Italian singer-songwriting at its finest: suave, smart, sexy, sophisticated, all the usual Italian magic plus the underlying melancholy that sears one's heart & soul...
All Testa's songs are beautifully crafted, with poetic abundance of story-teller's insights, combined with unique raspey voice and soft rich arrangements. Few of the masterpieces include "Dentro al Cinema", "Sei La Conchiglia", "Una Lucciola D'Agosto" and "'Na Stella".

I learned of Gianmaria Testa through a sampler album and loved his voice. One song is definitely not always indicative of an artist's whole album, but in this case it was. With the smattering of Italian I know, I enjoy picking out words and phrases from his songs, but it is the voice and music that really makes this album worthwhile. Alternately gravelly and silky-smooth, Testa's voice is intoxicating and twists its way around you like a slinky cat. I am not a dancer, but this album makes me want to move. I just hope his other albums are more of the same.
