I officially kicked off my effort to work out with this Altus set of dumbbells, and I have to say, they are great. I was definitely a beginner, and didn't want to go get a gym membership and be surrounded by strange people, so I thought I'd just lift some weights at home. To be honest, I didn't even know what Neoprene was when I started looking and my only exposure to dumbbells was PE class as a kid where the weights were metal. These are GREAT!! They are coated with this rubberized material (Neoprene). They feel good, they just don't slip, they don't smell AT ALL, and they aren't cold and hard like metal weights. Had no idea weights could be so pleasant to use. I did go through these very quickly. From 3 lbs to 5 lbs to 8 lbs and now I'm ready for more. On the positive side, works great and I'm stronger in a week! 8 lbs is definitely enough if you just want to tone your arms, but I'm on to even bigger ones such as 15 lb and 20 lb, but I'm sticking with Neoprene. Highly recommend these, great purchase!

Since I was too weak to carry 32lbs of weights back to my apartment, I was happy to find these offered on Amazon with free shipping! The shipping would have cost about as much as the weights themselves, so this deal was too good to pass up. Other than that, they're weights. They do their job of being heavy if I do my job of lifting them. So far so good.

Great for your workout sessions. I workout about 4 times a week, I am trying to lose about 25 pounds and in order to do this I wanted to workout but didnt want to go to a gym as I dont really like working out in front of people so I chose to instead buy some weights and other equipment to make a small home gym. I mainly workout to various workout dvds so these weights become very handy. I am using these dumbbells everyday when I workout in our house.

Some other things that have been effective for me are zumba dvds, a workout dvd from Bob Harper (cant remember name right now) and doing some running outside. I live in a hilly area so I run outside on the hill when the weather is nice.

As for diet I have been taking the supplement Raspberry Ketone (Raspberry Ketone, Naturally Lose Weight, Appetite Suppressant, 500mg of High Quality Raspberry Ketone Per Capsule, 60 Ct, 100% Natural Weight Loss)which seems to have helped me with energy levels and appetite control. Also a tip for meals, obviously eating healthy is always recommended but I have found it helpful to eat 5 small meals spread out throughout the day. I tend to eat less this way it seems. Also for breakfast I eat a meal heavy in protein, which seems to be very helpful in keeping me feeling full longer. Also have seen various research that it helps with weight loss. I think the goal is to get 20-30 g of protein first thing in the morning. The easiest way to do that is to drink a protein shake (at least for me).

All of this combined with these dumbbells from Altus really do have helped me towards my weight loss goal. I have firmer arms and toner biceps and have lost around 25 pounds so far. If you are looking to workout at home try this set. Good luck, I hope all this information helps people meet their goals.
