Just wanted something to get my heart rate up for a few minutes in the morning. At under $10, this Altus jump rope is a nice addition to my exercise repertoire. You can shorten the rope part and still leave overage in the handle in case you change your mind and want to lengthen it somewhat later. The handle has a comfortable grip and weight (not too light, not too heavy). Don't skip this rope barefoot--the plastic rope smacking your toes in a bit painful. Comes with a CD in case you want to progress to trickier moves--leg raised, etc.

I read reviews of all the other jump ropes available before purchasing this one. So glad I did! This jump rope is 9ft, easily adjustable for shorter people, and comes with a mini DVD that reminds you of all the different ways to jump rope in case you've forgotten. It's rubber or leather or something similar so it's good for a speed workout. I highly recommend this...oh yeah and I've had it only a few days and the kinks from packaging have already fallen out.

I bought 3 other jump ropes in the $10-$20 price range, and this one is the best. It is very smooth with the rotations and has been an excellent work out tool. I am 5'7 and did not need to adjust the length at all, so if you are a couple inches taller you might want a longer one.

Trusted the product reviews and bought it on June 14th. Used it almost every day (once a day, not intensively, but outdoors) for workouts. Today, June 24, requested refund (return window would close a week later in early July---am lucky to find out that the item is so bad).

Pros: heavy => additional weight for arms and better workout; indeed easily adjustable

Cons: after 8 uses, 10 days later, the middle part got so thin that the white thread inside is visible. Few workouts more and it will fall apart. This is unacceptable. I can understand few months, but a week of use... seriously?

Conclusion: Stay away from it if you are looking for something to last. I guess it will last longer if you only exercise on polished wooden floor. Concrete kills it in one week.

Disclaimer: I am hardcore jumper - each workout is 3000 jumps.

This jump rope has a heavy string for fast swinging and light handle for quick movement. I can say this product is a speed, and heavy rope but mainly speed. Perfect for anyone who wants to learn and is decent at jump ropes like myself. Price is alright, worth it in the long run. Comes with instructions to adjust the rope. Pros: Soft grip jump rope that uses bearings so the handle won't cut into the rope like most jump ropes Cons: None so far. I'm pleased with this product

I just started taking a jump rope class and didn't like the ones they provided so I bought this one after much research (I don't spend money easy). Its great. The handles are comfortable, the rope is a good size, its not too heavy or light, so far so good. Great price too!

This old guy has started jumping rope again, as it's a great exercise. This jump rope seems good enough, especially for the price. Two issues, though. I'm 6'2", and this rope is not long enough according to the rope's own instructions on adjustment (and, now, according to what I've read on the internet). If you're over six feet tall go for a ten foot jump rope. The second issue is one regarding adjustment. It's not worth returning the rope since it was so inexpensive. I'm going to give it to a shorter friend. But the DVD which came with the rope (a nice bonus) showed a method of adjusting the rope that doesn't seem to apply to this rope. The DVD shows the woman using an "included" wrench. The rope came with no wrench, and the instructions for adjusting this rope show a different method. All in all I'd say it's a good rope at a good price, but this rope is not for you if you're over six feet tall.

Bought this as part of a new workout routine. It's easy to adjust to the right length, fun to use (so long as you don't whip yourself) and all-in-all a good purchase.

As my title says, this jump rope snapped after less than 2 months of normal use. I don't use it everyday though. I use it alternately with my old jump rope ( I jump rope at least 5 days a week). I bought this as my reserve rope just in case my old rope will snap. But the new rope snapped first.

I bought this jump rope to use in my exercise routine as a substitute for treadmill running. I had not previously jump roped for exercise. I've been very happy with it as it is the perfect weight for me to get reasonable speed on my jump roping routine. The only problem I have with it is that once you shorten the rope to adjust it to your height, it is difficult to lengthen it to make any minor adjustments, so you must be careful not to over shorten it. Also, the included DVD has about 30 seconds of material, and it is basically useless. Overall, I was happy enough with this product to purchase a second one.
