I'm looking at it right now, hanging on the door. One cord gone all wobbly and crooked. The little rubber bands are sticking out of the yellow threads. They quietly snapped at some point. It was a good workout while it lasted. I haven't been able to find any replacement 'resistance bands' available on the 'net. The metal and plastic parts look quite durable. One reviewer complained about the mini-DVD. That reviewer might have tried to play it in his DVD player. I have a cheap player and it played the mini DVD just fine.

UPDATE: They replaced it via amazon for free. It's now on my door again, and hopefully it will last longer. This time I'm not using the little clip they provided: I'm not sure what it does, and I'm suspicious that it caused the damage to the cord.

UPDATE: One of the bands broke again, after only a couple uses. We returned it for a partial refund. They withheld a certain amount (miscellaneous charges). I went and got a Weider X-Factor instead, which uses tubing instead of bungee cords. I will review the X-Factor after I use it awhile.

I use the altus for judo drills in my mma school and it works great. It has the exact same components as the body by jake version, but is about a forth of the price. We also use it for some twisting exercises as well as shoulder rehab and boxing drills. NO complaints on the price or the equipment. The judo drills put an extreme amount of work on these guys and we have 4 in active use and have laid about six of the bungees to rest. If you wanted to use as it's intended I would defiantly buy this one instead of the more expensive version that body Jake and Weider make. As far as the dvd goes it generic but will get you started... The handle hooks are plastic but we haven't had any break...

first off it should be said that you should have an arms lengths distance between the door and the wall, or you won't get a full range of motion, and will not be able to do all the exercises. secondly I found that it offered limited resistance. i had no problem doing 12 bicep curls; to compare I often do 20 pound bicep curls. solely a product for beginners. If they tacked on 1-2 more sets of resistance bands it would be perfect.

This is my second one. The first one lasted 5 years with intermitant use. It is a very compact and versatile way to get exercise IF YOU WILL USE IT! I am satisfied with the device.

This is the second Altus Home Gym I have purchased. The first one worked great but the bands wore out after several years of use. This is great for an in home workout and is very easy to set up and get working. I called Altus looking for replacement bands for the original one. However Altus does not sell replacement and recommended Amazon.com for a new unit with the best price. They were right. I am very happy with this purchasae and recommend this to anyone looking for a light workout for the room.

Although, we've had this item for around 4 years and it is used often and still is in great shape and the price is very reasonable! I would recommend it with caution as ALTUS, the company that makes it only provides a warranty for it for 90 days. This tells me they do not stand behind their product. We recommended this product to a friend and the elastic cords lost all their elasticity in just over 6 months. Anyone contemplating buying this item should keep this in mind.

This is my third set. Like the way it works except both previous bands have worn out more quickly than I expected both times. Do think it is well worth the price and convenient to use.

Negative reviews of this product are exactly right. This product is JUNK..
I've had it exactly 6 days.. use it everyday and the Black bands are fraying and flattening on one side. The yellow bands are already showing wear(fraying). I can't believe it. I had one of these gyms for 4 years. It finally wore out and i ordered this one. My first one was made of metal and not plastic. This new one is a cheap version of the original. No wonder it is so inexpensive. I will be returning it. I'm so dissappointed in this product. Altus should be ashamed. I think I'll write them too.

This piece of excersice equipment is a handy way of toning many major muscle groups. The instructional 3 inch dvd will not work in any drive though. I requested them send me a chart or something instructional, but they just sent me the same non working dvd. A person can figure out many ways of using the equipment on their own. It is a convenient piece of equipment.

I've bought 3 of these over the last four years. The first one purchased was in Afghanistan (thru Amazon) in 2006 and still is in good shape performing as intended by Altus. The last 2 have been purchased in the previous two years. One had an extreme loss of tension in the resistance bands within a couple of weeks. The most recent one (a few weeks old) has shown fraying on both black cables which are in the middle of the set. This condition also affects the resistance. If you get a good one then it provides an effective light to medium resistance workout with several exercises. If not, then you'll be creating an Amazon return label. I guess the question is how many has to be ordered before getting a quality product
