I've been training for 10+ years and I have never come across a product this useless.

The hooks don't fit around the standard Olympic sized barbell. They don't fit around standard dumbbells. I have no use for them at all. I'm planning on calling the company to return this.

I had to give these hooks 1 star because they don't do anything they're supposed to.

They don't fit on any of the bars at my gym, so I can't use them to deadlift as I had hoped because they are too small. After finding that, I thought I could use them for pull downs or dumbbell work but it doesn't fit on those either.

That said, when I did try to squeeze the bar in them to test them out, because they do not fit, the bar is too high in the hook which puts more torque trying to bend your wrist back which causes the bar to fall out. This might be an issue just for some people, but I found that I could not get them tight enough (even with someone helping me) for them to sit high enough in my hand.

Product (Altus lifting hooks) works well but could be significantly improved if a buckle-like device were included to make the strap easier to tighten (or cinch) onto the wrist. This would require making the strap about twice as long as it is so as to allow length for the necessary fold-back. Consideration might also be given to make the hooks slightly wider to accommodate doing shrugs on "Smith Machines" which use a thicker shaft.

After using wrist wraps for years, i gave these a try. First, theyre alot more painful to use than wrist straps. Dont expect to use alot of weight, it digs into your wrists really hard. I guess they can be convenient for lighter lifts and you just hook on, but then again you gotta walk around like captain hook, how convenient is that? Give these a try if you want light weight quick hooks, but for bigger lifts just get the harbinger padded wraps and enjoy them. Oh yeah, and the threads ripped the first day!!!

Not recommended for very heavy lifts especially deadlifts. The hooks are not comfortable when gripping the bar and not efficient as straps when executing heavy lifts.

These hooks do not fit around an Olympic barbell, and their hooks are too close together. You are guaranteed to have one or more of your fingers resting on the hooks. I would prefer to have my fingers completely between them, but it is not possible unless you have VERY small hands.
However, the hooks do fit well around the smaller bars (like rowing handles, pulldown bars, etc). The quality seems great too. The stitching is good and the hooks don't bend even when I am doing shoulder shrugs with 400 lbs. I would buy them again, but only because I can't find anything with a wider spacing between the hooks.

I really don't care what any other review says, because I have been a competitive powerlifter, and now a bodybuilder my entire life. These hooks do fit well around olympic bars and dumbbells. These hooks have taken my back and trap training to the next level. Wherein straps might bring a 25% increase in load capacity, these hooks are easily an increase of 65%.
My first pair finally gave out while doing barbell shrugs of 485 lbs for 12's. I bought another pair while I'm waiting for the prior pair to be stitched by a leather shop.

I give Altus Hooks 5 Stars!
