The world is run on aluminum - automobiles and gas stations, pots and pans, electrical grid, everything we use in daily life probably has some aluminum in it. Then someone goes and bolixes things up by inventing a phage that eats aluminum - and suddenly the world is in chaos as every day life grinds to a halt! Really interesting story, good writing and a great conclusion - this is a book to add to your SF shelf and it is a keeper.
