5.0 out of 5 stars Aluratek 11" digital picture frame
I purchased one of these units about 6 weeks ago. The picture is sharp, easy setup, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. My kids managed to damage the remote control this weekend, and when I called Aluratek to purchase a new remote, they kindly offered to send me one for free. Now that's customer service. Highly recommend

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware!
This frame is a piece of junk. We ordered one in November only to have it start beeping after about a month. After weeks of back and forth between myself and customer (non)service, they finally agreed to give me a replacement. That one has been working for about a month and is now flashing on and off. I'm giving up and chalking the lost $$$ up to lessons learned...

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Digital Photo Frame I've seen so far......, October 24, 2007
This review is from: Aluratek 11-Inch Hi-Res Digital Photo Frame (1 GB SD Card Included) (Electronics)
The Aluratek 11 in. Digital Photo Frame is the best I've seen so far. With 1GB of Internal Memory, there is plenty of room for PICS and Music. The 1024x786 Resolution is great. The PICS I put in the frame look outstanding. I have an imac and it was just drag and drop from iphoto. I paid $208 from Ritz Camera. What a bargain. If you are looking for a Dig. Photo Frame, take a look at this one. I don't think you'll find a better frame for the money.

The customer service is horrible! Do not purchase this product! They do not return phone calls, emails, service tickets. They have promised me a replacement photo frame and it has been a month. I can not get anyone to talk to me even though they sent an email to me. I am stuck with an expensive piece of junk!

I normally don't take the time to comment on products but the technical support of Aluratek is the worst I have ever seen. I purchased the model ADMPF110 and it was dead out of the box. I go round and round with their technical support via email and finally they give me an RMA to send it in for repair. I wanted to put this in the wall of a new house we are building so I needed it back pretty quickly. So I sent it to them over-night with all of the necessary paper work. 90 days later I get it back. By this time I had bought another brand unit to put in our new house. We were really busy getting the house completed so I didn't get around to looking at the Aluratek unit I got repaired under warranty unit about 3.5 months later. It was dead out of the box again! This time it made a faint clicking noise when turned off and on which was an improvement over last time, however, still nothing on the screen. Absolutely dead in all modes. Aluratek said that I had it over 90 days and that it was out of warranty and if I wanted to send it back in they would repair it for a fee. I explained that I never got to use it even once. The said it was out of warranty. I explained it was just barely out of warranty and they said it didn't matter, I should have checked it out when I first got it back. I told them that I am not their quality control department. Unless you want to get stuck with junk that doesn't work or unless you want to do the quality control for this company I suggest you don't buy any of their products.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Real Loser, March 30, 2008
This review is from: Aluratek 11-Inch Hi-Res Digital Photo Frame (1 GB SD Card Included) (Electronics)
This product appears to accept untreated jpg photos only. Incompatible with Photoshop and also Fireworks. A deal breaker for us. Customer support is non-existent. The 120 day warranty is a bad joke, and it may be illegal in our state, since (in part) it states that Aluratek "specifically disclaims its quality, performance, merchantability, or fitness for any particular purpose." Unless you want to use it only for untreated images, this is not the product for you.

A digital frame should be built so that transferring images is easy. The two features that attracted me the most were that it could store more data than most units and that it could playback movies. Making the unit perform as advertised was not easy. Instruction manual would make a better birdcage liner. To the manufacturer, I say, "C'mon!" I make websites for a living and this digital frame was not easy.

Three things you will need before buying this unit:
1. Patience
2. Technical saavy
3. A certain amount of restraint not to throw it through the window.

I recommend that the manufacturer make the following three improvements:
1. When you claim that the digital frame allows .jpg images, then make the unit so that it accepts all kinds of .jpg images including the most ubiquitous "progressive" .jpg images. These are the kind of images used on the web. Why would you exclude these?
2. When you claim that the unit allows video movies, then print on the box and the manual that the format must be .mpeg1. And allow more formats like .mpeg4 and .wmv files. Be less restrictive.
3. Test your product in the U.S. before selling it here. Include techies and grandparents, alike.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas, it shot craps last month.
It did work quite well, but less than 6 months use is unaccepatable.
Time to check out their customer service:(

Update:
Apparently there is an issue with the voltage adapters, they replaced it very quickly, no problems since.

The display on my frame went dim and started flickering after 90-days, so I'm waiting to hear about a warranty replacement. The frame worked OK until the failure, but photos always display in the same order you load them into memory. There is no random mode, folder selection, or ability to sort alphabeticaly.

I bought this frame for the combination of screen size, memory and price. Unfortunately, the first one that I received was a lemon. Aluratek replaced it, but the process took quite a while (I had to send a photo of it, and then there was some back and forth). But, they did replace it and the new one worked fine for a while.

The screen is 16:9 format, which is not that appropriate for photos. Vertical shots get squeezed. It would be nice if the format was 4:3 so that more shots would use more of the screen.

The screen looks good, though. Photos pop and the colors are good. The brightness, contrast and tint controls work to fine tune the look. It's easy to load - just pop in a CF or SD/MMC/MS/XD card, or hook up the USB cable to load up the 1 GB of memory. Unfortunately, there seems to be a limit of 162 files, so you can't load thousands of photos into the built-in memory. I'm still looking for a workaround.

That became irrelevant when the second one died. This frame is a piece of junk.
