4.0 out of 5 stars Working fine for me...
Just a quick note after seeing the other review. I've been on my first one of these for some months, and have had none of the problems described from above. I'm doing a lot less writing and a lot more reading though. (Toshiba Satellite L305)

2.0 out of 5 stars If only it would work reliably or lasted more than a month.
I bought this to supplement my MBP SSD 2565GB drive and use the empty slot for something useful.

When it is good it is VERY VERY good, but when it is bad it DEAD to me.

I am now on my Third, and will try the fourth for good measure.

First one:
Worked perfectly for 29 days, then dismounted and all data lost.

When it is good it is VERY VERY good, but when it is bad it DEAD to me.

I am now on my Third, and will try the fourth for good measure.

First one:
Worked perfectly for 29 days, then dismounted and all data lost.

Second One:
Works great but any file copy which takes more than 2 minutes ( Apx 8gb ) the card just dismounts, no data loss.

Third one:
Copies round 50MB then pauses for 30 secs.

Amazon as always saves the day with there return policy so I will persevere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for running Virtual HD for Parallels - with Windows XP modification, October 21, 2010

Hello Everyone,

I purchased this item to store the Virtual HD image for my Windows XP Pro installation that I am using in conjunction with Parallels 6 on a MacBook Pro. First impression was great. I copied the virtual HD image on to the card and it went truly fast. Very nice transfer speed.

Then I booted up the Windows XP Pro OS under Parallels and the OS literally came to a crawl. It was slow as molasses and had periodic time outs. So I started looking and found several interesting posts about running Windows XP (Pro) from a SSD. Turns out that XP does not like the paging (virtual memory) due to countless small file writes. There are a few other things that should be changed and edited. I followed many of the suggestions including disabling the virtual memory paging, indexing, modified the prefetch setting from 3 to 1.

Now it is running faster than before from this little SSD express card drive. Very nice product. Glad I got it. And it makes good use of the Express Card slot on my MBP.

Martin

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Product, October 26, 2010
This review is from: Aluratek 48 GB Filemate Solid State Drive ExpressCard AWSSDE48F (Personal Computers)
Easy to use, easy to install, and flush with the computer. I have one of these in my MacBookPro5,1 (original 15" Unibody MacBook Pro). I installed a clean copy of Snow Leopard on it and boot off it. It works perfectly and booting, logging in, and launching applications all happen 3x-4x their original speed (off a 2.5" 5400rpm hard drive). All applications installed on the SSD launch in one Dock bounce and are fully responsive instantaneously. This is an amazing product and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
