I know I will eventually find them...I'm just saying!

It's thin metal lets the eraser really get into those tiny places that need work.
Lady Lee
Although made of stainless steel, this erasing shield looks tiny and fragile.

I've used this for years. I mean years! It helps when you have just the tiniest area to clear and you don't want to mess up such hard and long endured work around it. Especially if you use it with an electric eraser. Even better.

This is an extremely thin metal shield. Very useful to limit the scope of the erasure to a small confined space. Helps to keep your drawings neat. Works the way it supposed to.

I have had one of these little shields for years and years. Well, actually that is not true sort of. Actually I have had three or four of these shields for years and years...same shields mind you, but I have a problem. I loose things. I can loose a full grown rhinoceros on a tennis court - truth be told. Anyway, I purchase these things a long time ago and when I loose one, or even two at times, I am able to have an instant replacement rather than running around like my hair was on fire looking for the thing. I eventually find the missing one(s) but by that time I have lost the one I was using as a replacement.

Anyway, these are quite handy to have around. Another problem I have, other than loosing things, is that I am extremely sloppy at times and when you couple this with the fact that I am constantly changing my mind as I draw, I do a lot of erasing and without a guard such as this, I fear to tell you that my erasing is rather sloppy...to put it kindly.

These are very thin and very precise. The different shapes work perfect, depending upon what I want to remove or alter in my drawings. They work (for me) best with graphite but I have also had some success with charcoal. (I do not have an electric eraser and probably never will, but I should think that these would be ideal for use with such a contraption.

Alas though, like another reviewer here, I have found that modern office supply stories, and indeed, most art stores, have no clue as to what you want when you ask them for these things. In my particular area they are difficult, if not impossible to find. It is pleasing to find them at a reasonable price here on Amazon. I tend to use these things from time to time as bookmarks and I am down to one now and have no clue as to which books the others may be in.

I bought this as a gift and the person really liked it. It is steel, but very thin, just as described. The varied holes allow for lots of options when trying to erase only a small area of your sketch. I would recommend to anyone who draws with pencils. (Beware - I almost threw this away with the shipping box. It is shipped in a clear plastic wrap only. The item is very small and thin. I had ordered several things and this was lodged under one of the flaps at the bottom of the box.)

These eraser guards are easily lost but sorely missed. I've used the product for several weeks and they are not easily wrinkled and are inexpensive. What more is there to it.

I am taking a charcoal drawing class and a guy in the class, who was also a drafter, had one of these. He let me try it for charcoal and it worked really well. Amazon had such a good deal on them that I bought some for my friends in the class, too.

I needed an eraser shield today so I dug up the one I used in engineering school in the 80's. I found it, still in its original light blue Alvin envelope it came in with the price sticker still on it: 45 cents. I was wondering if these were still around so I looked on Amazon. Three bucks plus shipping, I'm in the wrong business. :)

Things have never been the same since retailers discovered "value based pricing".

It wasn't till I was in college, in an art course, that I realized how useful these eraser shields are. They offer really nice effects, for any medium that can be erased.
