5.0 out of 5 stars Mysterious world of Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, July 3, 2001
This review is from: Always (Audio CD)
First of all, names on this album make this album what it is. Of course it is one of Aziza's albums ( for me, it is one and only the best ) At drums; Dave Veckl, Bass; John Pattituci, Compositons-piano and vocals ; Aziza Mustafa Zadeh. This album,ALWAYS,is the most powerfull trio album of hers to show out her mysterious world in her brain and heart of course. She has extremely sensitive and also energetic piano style and it is felt more in this album.Without doubt, Always is the locomotive song of this album, as a name father. As completely baroque, you can feel her first studies of Bach inside really. So many passion brings you emotions that has no describe that i can either write down here or you can say after hearing and feeling that song. The unison bass and piano sounds a real love out of this world. As I believe real love is a utopia, this song just lite another hope till you hear the last note.I can say that the darkest song of the album is Insult. It is a attractive combination of jazz and azerbajian modes. This is her way to be ethnic.Marriage Suit is a hard piece to play as being cornered construction, but it has everything to sound like a wedding song. The taste of this album is covering melodies and motives by a master.

4.0 out of 5 stars Did you like the Elektric Band's "Eye Of The Beholder?" Then you will like this., October 3, 2011

The Chick Corea Elektric Band album "Eye of the Beholder" has been one of my favorite jazz albums for 20 years. I love the perfect combination of electric jazz, latin, and middle-eastern elements; and I had never found anything else quite like it.

Until this morning. I stumbled upon this 1996 release from Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, who is a vocalist and pianist from Azerbaijan. Weckl and Patitucci are the rhythm section. There is no guitarist, nor saxophone, but Aziza's vocals are outstanding and seem to serve the sound spectrum where the saxophone did on "Beholder". In any case, it's the same recipe and an outstanding recording.

The album "Always" stands on its own, but anyone who particularly likes "Eye Of The Beholder" will be drawn to it. That's me.
