Book Description

June 20, 2006
As a child, Sue Martin struggles to understand why her mother keeps her at a distance. Always eavesdropping, she hears her mother constantly referring to her as poor ol’ Sue. This contributes to her low self-esteem and leaves her feeling abnormal. The story begins in the 1960's, and spans the most formative years of her life. Possessing an intensity about everything, Sue intellectually and emotionally matures at a young age.

Gary Waltham, a student of art seeks to show her the beauty of the world. Everything about him is a contrast to the turmoil and unrest inside her. Very mature for their age, they grow in love. However, one night while Sue is alone at a party, her curiosity about alcohol leads to reckless drinking. As her inhibitions diminish, her repressed sexual desires quickly unfold. This is the beginning of Sue’s secret life of sexual exploration. Slowly the reckless disregard for herself erodes her stability.

Seeking to sort life out at college, Sue is stunned by the coldness and indifference of Dr. Sarah McBride, the Dean of Women. Challenged by her demeanor, Sue relentlessly breaks through her facade and discovers an amazing story of Sarah’s character and strength to out live her sentence of death. Unbeknownst to either of them, their lives have a parallel reality and connection. Sarah McBride, now in her sixties, is forced to look back at the great love story of her life, meanwhile Sue is forced to cope with a devastating tragedy that reveals overwhelming evidence of a love beyond her comprehension.

More About the Author

L. K. Craft (maiden and pen name, her married name: Linda K. Hisayasu) was born in rural Michigan in the early 1950's. She attained her academic degrees from Spring Arbor College (now Spring Arbor University) and her graduate degrees from the University of Notre Dame. Ms. Craft spent 27 years as a hospital administrator, clinical therapist, management consultant, and as a national lecturer. In 2000, she proclaimed, "I've spent too much time 'doing' life, now I want to 'live' it." Freeing herself from her career, she embarked on a journey that would thrust her into life experiences. Opening herself up, it expanded her view of the human condition. Enmeshed in the lives of those lost in risk taking behaviors, she was overwhelmed with the philosophical question of 'what is enough' in life. In 2003 she ended her journey knowing that she no longer would return to her career of 'doing' life and immediately started working on her literary fiction novel: ALWAYS ENOUGH, published in 2006. ALWAYS ENOUGH has received outstanding reviews, with the famed KIRKUS Review proclaiming it is "A REWARDING READ." Today L. K. Craft lives in Palm Springs, CA and is working on her next novel which she has titled, THE SHATTER. She hopes to have it completed within a couple years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Find, July 13, 2006
This review is from: Always Enough (Paperback)
Sue, the main character is very interesting . . . provocative and captivating. Some readers describe her as some one with a 'natural intensity' . . . but I tend to think she is more intellectually deep thus causing her to question everything. I love that passionate, risk taking and sensual side of her. There are so many sides to this novel, the character development is amazing, i.e. Carrie, a character that I can't seem to let go of; or Eric, with his calculating rough edges, yet is so amazingly sensitive to Sue. But more importantly, I was really blown away at what happens in this story... A great story. It's shocking because you don't see it coming and yet when the book comes to an end, every detail has an overwhelming impact. Now I'm full of things to talk about and wishing everyone I knew had read it so we could talk . . . I highly recommend it! It's a classic, because it's a story that will never go away...
