5.0 out of 5 stars Story of the Baker's Miraculous Ministry Amongst the Poor, February 15, 2004
By
Todd (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth (Paperback)
From the introduction:
"I (Rolland) always wanted to live and believe the Sermon on the Mount, but usually got told that it did not mean all that I thought it meant, and that I needed to be practical. I would read the Scriptures longingly, trying to imagine how wonderful it would be not to worry about anything, safe and secure in the presence of Jesus all the time. Miracles would be normal. Love would be natural. We could always give and never lose. We could be lied to, cheated and stolen from, and yet always come out ahead. We would never have to take advantage of anyone, or have any motive but to bless other people. Rather than always making contingency plans in case Jesus didn't do anything, we could count on Him continually. We, our lives, and all that we preach and provide would not be for sale, but would be given freely. Our hearts would be carefree in the love of our Father in heaven, who always knows what we need, and we could get on with the glorious business of seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness. There would always be enough!"

Read about how Rollands desire came true. You will be encouraged in heart and enlarged in faith by reading just this one example of what God is doing in the world today.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Account About What God Is Doing, March 29, 2004
By
Shane (Lynden, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth (Paperback)
This is a fantastic testimony of the power of God in our time! Heidi and Rolland Baker are living examples of what God can and will do with laid down lives, radical lovers of Jesus.

This book is the story of Rolland and Heidi Baker. It tells of their humble beginnings where they just believed God and went out to the mission field to make a difference. They share their experiences in Indonesia, Hong Kong, London, and Mozambique, with the focus on the latter. They share about how Jesus thrust them into the harvest out of intimacy; their ministry went from 2 churches to over 5000!

They disclose, from their own experience, of the faithfulness of God and that He truly is More Than Enough. Rolland tells story after story about how God has used them to see the lost, poor, orphans, widows come to know Jesus. Heidi share's her intimate experiences with Jesus and how they radically transformed her life and ministry. These are powerful, impacting testimonies that will encourage, challenge and spur you on into deeper intimacy with Jesus... because He is worth it!

I highly recommend this book and if you can, get your church or conference to host Heidi and you will never be the same again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for those with a heart for the broken and a passion for Jesus, March 29, 2006
This review is from: Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth (Paperback)
I read this book right before I went to Heidi and Roland's center in Maputo last October. My heart was broken for the lost and forgotten and I was encouraged to read of the faithfulness of God. Once I was in Mozambique and saw all the transformed lives, it was easy to believe the things I read in this book happening there. The experience was life-changing. All the walls and pretenses come down and you are stripped bare. It makes a perfect enviroment for God to step in. Whether you plan to make a trip to Africa one day or not or to go on a missions trip at all for that matter, this book will expand your vision and break Jesus out of the box for you. The childlike faith and laid down life of Heidi Baker is a constant inspiration to me to humble myself and just trust in our beautiful Lord. He will do amazing things. Heidi just started helping the one in front of her and look at the impact. For all the many books I've read with plans and strategies on changing the world, her message is the only one that I know I can follow. Stop for the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars There is ALWAYS Enough, February 25, 2006
By

This review is from: Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth (Paperback)
WOW! Yesterday (February 24)was the final day of the 2006 convening of International Apostolic Ministries (the body that ordained Suzanne and me). Heidi Baker, of Iris Ministries, ministered to us, morning and evening.

Heidi and her husband, Rolland Baker, minister to multitudes in Mozambique. They feed, clothe, and house the poor, preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ to them. They have seen countless miracles of provision and healing. Heidi's testimony is summed up by the title of her book: Always Enough.

Heidi's a.m. message to us was on multiplication (as in Jesus feeding the 5,000). The take-away point that impressed itself upon me is that there is ALWAYS enough of everything--that's why Jesus came. If we will go to the Lord every day to eat and drink of Him, there will always be enough to love and take care of all those God has set before us.

Her p.m. message was that God wants us to be His house. If we will surrender everything to Him, He will come and fill us with Himself--the greatest treasure. That is our job: to let Him fill us. The position of ministers (and all His people are called to be His ministers) is this, to quote Heidi: "lower still."

The message and testimony of Heidi and Rolland Baker is very powerful. It will stir you up and spur you on to mighty exploits for God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yep, God is real!, July 12, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth (Paperback)
I've read dozens of books by missionaries, and this book stands out as the best I've ever read! The first hand evidence is solid, describing miracles and the Holy Spirit and saving starving orphans and God's love for people, and followers of Jesus actually experiencing his promise "my followers will do greater things than I have been doing." Jesus said the way to life is narrow and few find it. Well, if you want to find it, this book shows you that God is real, everything Jesus said is true, knowing God is way better than most christians ever realize, and this all totally rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Love of God in Human Form, September 29, 2005

If you want to know what it is like being a genuine missionary in one of the poorest countries in the world, I HIGHLY recommend this book. The Bakers shatter the mold on traditional missionary protocol. It is inspirational and transforming to the soul to read the accounts of these "laid-down lovers" of Jesus who desperately need God every minute of their lives to sustain, not only their own lives, but the lives of thousands of adopted orphans. And in the desperate neediness of the Bakers, the adopted orphans, as well as adult Africans, God shows up - big time!

5.0 out of 5 stars What God can do., July 19, 2004

This review is from: Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth (Paperback)
This book is about what the normal Christian life should be about. It is what God can do when we do not interfere. I recommened this book to any one how wants to now what God can really do. I have been in Mozambique working with this organization a couple of times and it has been amazing. People are being touched by God in the most amazing ways. In fact, they (Rolland and Heidi) could devot a large book or two just to the amazing ways that God worked in their ministry. I highly encourage people to buy and read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars God is the same yesterday, today and forever!!, August 31, 2005
This review is from: Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth (Paperback)
This book has forever changed my life and the lives of my family who have read it. It is new testament events happening in our "now" world!! The authors love Jesus so much and it is evident in all that they do. (...) You can just feel the love! This book encouraged me to know even more that God can still do today what he did 2000 years ago!! I highly recommend this book, next to the Bible this is the best book I have ever read and has changed my life and opened my eyes to the true mission that Christ called all of us to.....to stop for the one.....with LOVE, the love of Christ!!

5.0 out of 5 stars lover of books, April 12, 2008
This review is from: Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth (Paperback)
An extremely well written book, that is hard to stop reading.
All serious Christians need to read a book about surrender, humility, and love for
God. As a result of the author's utter dependence upon God and their willingness to
live with and help the "poorest of the poor", they saw miracle after miracle.
Even people laden with disease and hunger and loneliness ran to God when Heidi
visited them and spoke of a God who loved them and would take care of them.
An important book which needs to be read. The average church today hopes to see
miracles, but won't until it does what the author's did through the help of God
who's just waiting for people to give up all for Him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, February 24, 2006
This review is from: Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision among the Poorest Children on Earth (Paperback)
I loved this book- if you are called to missions or to pray for missionaries, this is the book to read. Heidi and Rolland share their story about how the Lord brought them to the place they are now and the struggles as well as the miracles. This is an eye opening and revealing look at what the Lord does when His people cry out and are "laid down lovers" for Him.
