I have become a fan of Heatwave since Boogie Nights hit the charts in the 70s. This album reflects their contribution to the disco era. Unfortunately, Heatwave is one of those groups that did not get enough credit that they really deserve. Listening to songs such as Mind blowing decisions or Where did I go wrong, still brings a smile. From my point of view, they are in par with the other 70s great soul bands. The problem with this album is where are the other songs from their album "Candles", such as Dreaming You etc. Apart from that, it is still an enjoyable album. I am still searching for their "Candles" album on CD.

Somewhere along the lines Heatwave became typcast as a singles act.For people who enjoy great remasters of somewhat care worn songs like "Groove Line","Boogie Nights","Always And Forever" and so forth this has them all plus some other excellent cuts like "Eyballin".Trouble is-I don't own this CD.I wouldn't.Heatwave and Marvin Gaye are two perfect examples of artists who are far over anthologized and way under issued.Heatwave only recorded five albums from 1977 to 1982 and only the first two of them are available on CD.Two of their best full lenghs-1979's brilliant 'Hot Property' and 1980's 'Candles',also excellent have never been released on CD to my knowledge.Their final album 'Current',from 1982 was just too wonderful to be ignored and was reissued in Japan, and went out of print again. My recommendation?Snag up 'Too Hot To Handle' and 'Central Heating' on CD RIGHT AWAY,instead of buying this. And google Heatwave's Current CD and get it-it's up there if not better,if you don't mind 80's production and a few synthesizers with terrific songs.Just avoid rehashes like this, and beat down the viynl bins or ebay for the two Heatwave album's available only on vinyl or (as rare as they are) cassette.Better off with the five original albums because Heatwave are much more of an album act and deserve the kind of commited reissue comittment that classic rock acts seem to get-with the strong exceptions of Earth Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder. You won't regret it!

Heatwave is possibly one of the best, if not the best funky disco band of all time. I knew that "Boogie Nights" would be the best produced song in the best of collection. After hearing this wonderful collection of songs I have decided that "Gangsters of the Groove" written by Rod Tempterton and recorded in 1980 is the best produced song in the best of collection. In this song Heatwave proclaims that they are the syndicate of soul. I agree. They are the true syndicate of soul, the bandits of the beat (Yeah).

This is Classic Funk at its best. Todays young people for the most part don't have a clue as to what real music is. Hell todays so-called artist couldn't read a piece of sheet music to save their life, much less play an instrument.

Truth to tell I bought this CD because I was being lazy. I have just about all the Heatwave albums on vinyl or cassette and I own both ION record and cassette converters. I just didn't feel like working it out that day, so I let Amazon work it out for me. This is the best stuff ever!! Late 70s, early 80s R&B grooves when everyone in the house could jam off the same records. This is a great CD for old and new fans. Check it out!!!

It took me back to the late 70's & early 80's when you could feel the soul in the music and the words.
