After listening to Jon Abeles new CD "Always" I have to come to the conclusion, that he is without a doubt, the finest new young singer to come along in years. He is the best there is, at what he does, and man he does it well. He is the real deal. He puts most of the other singers out there, who attempt to sing the american songbook to shame. Im sure anyone who listens to his CD will agree. I certainly hope he will make more recordings. And with his singing talent Im sure he will, and Im positive that he will amount to alot in the music business, he is, in my opioion what the music business needs today, a really good singer, who sings a song the way it is ment to be sung. This CD from Jonny Abeles is certainly a breath of fresh air. With all of the other male singers out there FINALLY there is someone who choses not to be compaired or grouped with the endless wanna be clones of the "Chairman of the Board". Jonny's sense of interpretation is extremely sensitive and pays close attention to the lyric. Not to mention that no one swings harder than he. Although the recording sounds like it was recorded live on stage, this CD shows that Jonny is a real singer who is just as capable in the studio as he is live in person. I have seen Jonny and can attest to this fact. Hopefully Jonny will release another album soon it has been too long. In other words, BUY THIS CD if you enjoy great jazz singing you won't be sorry.

Jonny Abeles is the finest male jazz singer of the 21st Century. He has the same understanding of the genre as does Nat Cole, Mel Torme or even Sinatra. The selection of material is impeccable. (I am prejudiced since I wrote the new original number.) With all the electronic nonsense blasting through our ears, it's comforting to know that there are stylists like Abeles who are continuing the tradition of quality American music.

Loved the piece "Until It's Time To Go" Reminded me of the King, Nat King Cole. Great phrasing and great piano.
