Inspirational, not educational,
By A Customer
This review is from: Always Kiss Me Good Night: Instructions on Raising the Perfect Parent by 147 Kids Who Know (Paperback)
Helps you see your parenting through your kids' eyes. If you're looking for an instruction manual, this isn't it. This is a sweet wake-up call to us hurried, harried parents to stop and smell the roses -- and spend time with our kids. I agree it should go out in new baby bags (instead of the ubiquitous formula and other medical-model parenting tools and info).

I cannot recommend this book enough! If you like "Love You Forever" you will LOVE this book! I find myself crying every time I read it! Amazingly simple requests from real children. What other parenting guide does one need? This book is an absolute treasure!

I read about 10 pages of this book and I knew I needed it. Any parent that can read this book from cover to cover without sheding a tear needs to be nominated for parent of the century. Tear some of these pages out and place them around the house so you can remember that your kids are just that... KIDS! They were not meant to run a household or cook dinner.. they are KIDS.. let them enjoy life.Read this book.. I ordered two books.. one for me and one for my ex-wife.

Instant impact with my 5 year old son,
By A Customer
This review is from: Always Kiss Me Good Night: Instructions on Raising the Perfect Parent by 147 Kids Who Know (Paperback)
After reading "Always Kiss Me Goodnight" I was sufficiently inspired to approach my 5 year old son and ask him what he wanted Daddy to "do differently" as a Daddy. His first response was the politically correct one. "Nothing, daddy," he said. But I pressed on. "Nothing Jesse?" I asked. He looked at me and smiled. "Well, I'd like you to play with me more. And I want Mommmy to play with me more, too." Whew! What a powerful message from my little boy! Of course, I always THINK I play with my son a lot... but after all, that's the perspective of a 51 one year old father who is running a business and travelling all over the country too much of the time. J.S. Salt's book, which I found extraordinarily inspiring and very much to the point, was the catalyst to find out what my son was REALLY thinking. I think the book should be required reading for all new parents... perhaps even included with the freebie "infant bags" hospitals give to all new parents. Hats off to J.S. Salt!

Best Parenting Book We've Ever Found!,

This review is from: Always Kiss Me Good Night: Instructions on Raising the Perfect Parent by 147 Kids Who Know (Paperback)
These kids tell it like it is -- straight from the heart and right on target. You could not ask for better or more touching advice. And the fact that its in the kids' own handwriting gives it a very special warmth and appeal. My wife and I give out this book (a lot!) for baby showers. It's the perfect gift.

A touching, laugh out loud book you'll want to share,

The responses these kids give goes from thoughtful to outlandish. It's entertaining and enlightening. My eight year old niece read the whole thing outloud to her mother in the car. They laughed, teared up and had a good talk after.

The book arrived in the exact condition advertised, if not in better condition. It was shipped quickly and packaged well. I had tried to find this book around my area but just couldn't track it down. I'm very pleased to have it now.

Every new parent should have one,
This review is from: Always Kiss Me Good Night: Instructions on Raising the Perfect Parent by 147 Kids Who Know (Paperback)
This is the best primer for new parents I've ever seen. I buy one for every baby shower I'm invited to. It's presented in a humorous way but has the wisdom that only children can project.

The Best Book on how to deal with children,
This review is from: Always Kiss Me Good Night: Instructions on Raising the Perfect Parent by 147 Kids Who Know (Paperback)
I have been a "baby nurse" caring for babies in intensive care and well baby nurseries for 35 years. My greatest moments are those which involve helping parents to be comfortable caring for new babies. I am constantly amazed by the wisdom of newborns: how quickly they respond to voice and movement, the capability they have of communicating even immediately after birth. The first time I read Always Kiss Me Goodnight, I laughed and cried and was in complete awe of the wisdom contained in this book. Since then I have bought many copies and given them to new parents at work and to friends having babies. I gave a copy recently to a friend who is due to deliver soon and who is a young teacher working with grammar school children. She was delighted and said that she will be able to use the ideas not only for her own child, but also for her work. I personally believe that this book should be given to all new parents as part of a newborn package. Thank you for this book. It is a miracle!
