"WRITE THIS DOWN" AN EXCELLENT GEORGE CD,
This review is from: Always Never the Same (Audio CD)
This particular CD is excellent(Although it does not have western swing music on it), and although not quite as good as mid 80s- early 90s George, it is still an great CD, with songs such a "Write This Down", "Meanwhile", the title track, "4 minus 3 Equals Zero", and the best of all "One Of You" getting 10/10 stars, and no weak tracks, means "Write This Down", you have another excellent GS CD.

Still another excellent George Strait record,
By Ken Schoonover, Jr. (Springdale, AR United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Always Never the Same (Audio CD)
Although I didn't become a really big George Strait fan until I saw him in the movie "Pure Country", I think George has always put out excellent records. His latest effort, Always Never The Same, is no exception. The initial hit single from the album, "Meanwhile", is a classic George Strait country song. The waltzing tempo is reminiscent of one of George's early hit records, "You Look So Good In Love", although "Meanwhile" is a bit slower. And what would a Strait album be without at least one variation on the lost-love theme? Besides "Meanwhile", this record includes two other songs in that same vein, "That's The Truth" and "4 Minus 3 Equals Zero", with the latter song having the added dimension of a marital breakup. A Strait album is not all cry-in-your-beer, though. From this album, "Write This Down", "One Of You", and the title song, "Always Never The Same", are up-tempo songs that I think will be danced to on a lot of dance floors. Furthermore, George has three positive love songs on this record, "I Look At You", "That's Where I Wanna Take Our Love", and "What Do You Say To That". This collection is listenable and well put together. In Always Never The Same, George Strait has still another excellent record.

Write THIS Down...This album is great!,
By Tokay (Northern California) - See all my reviews

George Strait provided one of his best efforts in the album "Always Never The Same." The best song from the Album, "Write This Down" was Number One in country music for FOUR consecutive weeks. Only "Amazed" from the ONE HIT WONDER group Lonstar, was number 1 longer (it was played over and over and over and over...). "Write This Down" was written by Dana Hall and the Late Kent Robbins - who was one of the most talented and class-act songwriters in Nashville for 25 years. George did the song justice. But I am AMAZED that the CMA did not even nominate it for song of the year! In my books it was! Great album and a lot of fun.

Easy Listening,

Like all George Strait albums, this one is easy on the ears. Although no songs particuarly stand out, with the exception of "Always Never The Same", and maybe his recent smash "Write This Down", it is a very refreshing departure from the likes of Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks, and other soda pop sensations. Overall, any George Strait fan will appreciate this disc, but some other country fans might want to try some of his older material first like "Carrying Your Love With Me", or his boxed set.

amazingly solid... start to finish,

In a fashion only George has mastered, this album is solid from start to finish. All the songs and open, honest, and devoid of glitz that has come to rule the Nashville studios. I love the traditional to the contemporary, and all artists, including myself, have a lesson to be learned here: The music is what matters... millions of effects and overproduction are not necessary to be the best. What it takes is simplicity and honesty... two of George's strongest points

One of George's best,
By A Customer

I have been a long time fan of George's, since 1981 and I believe this to be one of his very best albums. There is traditional country tunes like "That's The Truth" & "4 Minus 3 Equals Zero" along with contemporary sounding tracks "I Look At You" and "What Do You Say To That". George has always been called a "traditionalist" but I believe that he is a realist who is looking for longevity. If you want to stay on the charts these days you need to compromise a bit and choose contemporary material that today's radio listeners will like. Too many times these days, a real hard core country tune will flop on the chart, for example "King Of The Mountain" as recorded by Mr Strait and can be found on his "Blue Clear Sky" album. I personally thought that this single was the very best cut off that album, but radio listeners apparently didn't agree. George will be around as long as he keeps his options open and continues to record material that will please a variety of people with a variety of tastes. Thanks George, keep up the great work!
