5.0 out of 5 stars Dilbert--The Cartoon Hero of the Workplace
This is the first Dilbert book. It is full of great cartoons that put a hilarious twist on all aspects of the workplace from endless meetings to pointy-haired idiots (better known as middle management). A great book to read if your stressed out on your jobs and you want to read about your workplace problems through the blurry eyes of Dilbert

3.0 out of 5 stars Early Dilbert
This is the first compilation of Dilbert comics, featuring Dilbert comic strips from the late 80's. Most of the humor is at home -- away from the office and features Dilbert with Dogbert. No Pointy Hair Boss, Wally, Alice, etc.. So, despite its title, there is very little office satire (my Dilbert preference). At 112 pages with typically 3 comic strips per page, there are...

4.0 out of 5 stars The First Dilbert Strips, August 19, 2002
This review is from: Always Postpone Meetings With Time-Wasting Morons (Paperback)
This book contains the first Dilbert strips running from April 16, 1989 to October 21, 1989. The characters are a little rough from what we've come to know and the humor contains a lot of puns. Some characters introduced here besides Dilbert and Dogbert are the dinosaurs Bob and Dawn, and Phil, the Prince of Insufficient Light. Scott was still feeling out the strip at this time and as a result it is not the funniest, but it is still good.

5.0 out of 5 stars The First Dilbert Book, September 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Always Postpone Meetings With Time-Wasting Morons (Paperback)
This is the first Dilbert book, filled with intelligent, totally funny humor on everyday life. This book did not have the official pointy haired boss, Wally, Alice, Ratbert, or Catbert. This book focuses more on Dilbert and Dogbert at home, on walks, and other places that don't have much to do with office life. These kinds of jokes are just as funny as the business jokes. This book should be read by all Dilbert fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars DILBERT'S FORMATIVE YEARS, December 28, 2004
This review is from: Always Postpone Meetings With Time-Wasting Morons (Paperback)
This being the earliest collection of dilbert strips we can see where Scott Adams was still looking to find that comfort zone. Kind of like Seinfeld in its first two seasons. Many of the strips take place at home as opposed to the office and include many of Scotts Animal characters.

Still you can see where the strip is going and certainly where it would be in a just a couple of years. The wry, sarcasm that we now know so well is rearing its humorous head.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still Fun and Funny, July 26, 2011
This review is from: Always Postpone Meetings With Time-Wasting Morons (Paperback)
Always Postpone Meetings with Time-Wasting Morons / 0836217586

This is the first book of Dilbert collections; I've been re-reading my collection lately and I love that there are still a lot of chuckles to be had in this slim volume. There's a little over 11 pages here, and some comics take up two full pages side-by-side, but this is still something of a must-have item for Dilbert collections.

If you're really just a fan of the newer Dilbert strips, this book may be a little surprising. The art-style is very different and has definitely evolved a lot over the years, but most surprisingly is that very few of the comics here are strictly about "work" so much as just about being a "geeky" engineer type. Quite a few of the strips are heavily pun-laden and at least a few are setups for jokes that aren't quite worth the buildup, but there are still chuckles to be had and I almost wish some of the newer strips could leave the office some more and head out for the classic Dilbert-and-Dogbert walk in the park.

3.0 out of 5 stars From humble beginnings..., October 8, 2008
This review is from: Always Postpone Meetings With Time-Wasting Morons (Paperback)
It's hard to recommend this book, as regular fans of Scott Adams might not connect with his early work. There's very little office humor here, many strips are written around bad puns, and the drawings are crude (even for Adams). Still, there are a few chuckles to be had, and it's worth a look for those curious about how that ubiquitous cartoon nerd and his dog got their start.

This is the very first Dilbert book. It is mostly at home, with Dogbert and, of course, Dilbert. There is no poity haired boss, no Alice, no Wally, no Catbert, and no Ratbert. No Asok the Intern. But it is still very funny! Even without all those characters gone, its still very funny!

This is the first Dilbert book! You can really see the transition over time of his graphics. Dilbert's head is super tall, but newer versions are not quite as tall. It's very very entertaining and you can see typical workplace issues being dealt with. Dogbert has a huge presence in this book and his early deviousness is coming out. Ok, its already out. I highly recommend this book for Dilbert fans who have not already added it to their bookshelves. A great one for the office bookshelf! Sometimes you just need a good laugh to make it through the day
