Book Description

December 1, 2008 Triple Crown Publications Presents
Queen Aaron is back in the eyes, minds and hearts of readers as Cynthia White picks up where her first novel left off. Queen is eight months pregnant and living a life of her own in scenic Hawaii, far away from her dramatic past in St. Louis. When Isiah, the king of The Black Mafia, shows up at her front door, Queen cannot help but believe his promise of a safe and happy household for their new baby back in Missouri. As Queen and her newborn daughter, Princess, arrive in St. Louis, her world seems too perfect to be true. Queen and Isiah enjoy the fruits of The Black Mafia in their new luxurious estate. Wedding bells ring out soon after Queen settles in. But just as her life is nearing flawlessness, Queen and Isiah's wedding reception proves to her that not everything that glitters is gold. When her past hits her like a speeding bullet, Queen s dream life dissolves and reality sets in. Queen must step up and fight for her daughter's safety, for her father's organization and for true love - but will that be with Isiah, her husband, or with Carmen, her former lover? Queen must maintain her self-worth in the wake of her mother s abusive ways in order to fulfill her promise to be a true mother to Princess - but can she resist past tempatations?

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Cynthia was born and raised in St. Louis. She has three older sisters, two beautiful nieces, three handsome nephews and now two adorable great nieces. Her father, whom she never met, was African-American, and her mother is half Irish and half Indian. One of Cynthia s older sisters will have nothing to do with her because she is half black. Cynthia grew up in a tough neighborhood, and saw many things that no little girl should have to see. She got involved with a lot of things and a lot of people who she had no business getting involved with, and dated a few people who were involved in criminal activities. Going through the motions for a long time trying to figure out her place in life, Cynthia wasn't sure what God put her on Earth to do. Her teachers always encouraged her talent for writing, but she never believed she could do it for a living, as there were no Vickie Stringers when she was coming up, and had no role models. Thankfully, things have since changed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pain from the inside Out, March 2, 2009
This review is from: Always a Queen (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Queen daughter of Hershey Aaron boss of the Black Mafia desperately wants her child to grow up in a stable family; with two loving parents who are there for her. Once she acknowledges that she still has feelings for an old flame it's hard to stay where her heart is not, especially when doubt comes knocking.

Queen's adamancy about not following in her own mother's foot steps slightly clouds her judgment causing a ripple effect of events in her life. She is torn apart inside because the life she knows as a mafia queen is in total conflict with her being a mom to her daughter. The question is love or obligation does a mother choose or should she have to?

Queen finds leaving Hawaii was the wrong decision and at this point in the game it's too late to turn around. Her daughter's safety is her first concern as her past begins to rear its ugly, painful head. When every romantic interests Gauge, Marc, Carmen and possibly Isaiah leaves her wondering can she trust herself when it comes to loving a man its then she begins to fight back.

Her life spirals out of control as vengeance is used to bring her and the Black Mafia to its knee's and all her questions are answered one by one amidst the chaos. With each answer her heart breaks into millions of pieces. Right or wrong what do you do when the rules of the street are so different from the normalcies of life?

I have not read Queen and I don't feel that Always a Queen is dependent on Queen. I believe this book stands on its own. I am going to read Queen just so that I know what happened before she moved to Hawaii in detail. Plus I'm curious to read about her wonderful relationship with her dad Hershey Aaron. Ms White does flashback just enough so that the reader is not lost on the history. I enjoyed reading Queen's story; so often when we read urban fiction it seems the characters are separate from the idea of wanting a normal life, or wanting true love and stability. It was refreshing to see a character that came from the streets but wasn't trapped there without any goals.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Complementary Sequel, January 22, 2009
This review is from: Always a Queen (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Ms. White's follow up to her first novel, 'Queen,' stands on its own as a perfect story of a woman torn between right and wrong, love and obligation, mother and Queen Pin. While it does continue where the original story leaves off, I would consider this more as a complementary story than a sequel. What the original lacked in emotion and reason, this story more than makes up for. Action, love, passion, and violence make it the perfectly appetizing Urban Tale.
