This review is from: Always Something Doing: Boston's Infamous Scollay Square (Paperback)
This book bought back many memories being bought up close to Scolley Square.
Loved the pictures and history and would recommend to anyone who is looking for information on this destroyed area.

Fabulous! In a word. I found this tome on the history of Old Scollay Square to be a wonderful look into the past of my father and mother's life. They met there and were married not long after. Dad was one of the sailors who frequented the area during World War II and now that he is gone I can get a wonderful glimpse into his early years as a young man. Dad spoke of Scollay Square and the Old Howard with fondness and I found the author, who also like myself, never set foot in Scollay Square wanting to know more about such a beloved place on earth. David Kruh did an exceptional job of keeping the reader interested and showing us that there was "Always Something Doing" in Old Scollay Square. I recommend it to any historical, architectural and biograghical buff.

This book about Boston and Old Scollay Square was a wonderfully entertaining read. It is a well-organized and researched history of a section of Boston that from colonial times to the present has experienced change and upheaval mirroring on a smaller scale what has happened in our nation and around the world. From Revolutionary war heroes and Yankee blue-bloods to burlesque stars and government bureaucrats, Scollay Square has seen it all -- and this book captures all the sights and sounds
