5.0 out of 5 stars A book to pass on to my daughter when she becomes a mom September 21, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was a beautiful reminder that as moms we all share similar fears, challenges, daily struggles on the toughest job we will ever have. With each devotion, I felt renewed, inspired and reminded of God's presence in our everyday labors and triumphs and how blessed I am to have the privilege of being a mom. This is a keeper; a book I want my daughter to have if she too is blessed one day with motherhood. I know it will help get her through...and remind her to enjoy all the little moments before they pass her by.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blessings in a Book July 19, 2012
Format:Paperback
I am a stay at home mom and this book is an essential read in my opinion! I am so grateful for it's messages and motivation as I sometimes get frustrated by the monotony of my days. I know this work is for God and His mission for my family and those that we touch through our lives. This book is a fantastic reminder with REAL verses to reference how God is present in changing a diaper, feeding our family, and cleaning up messes. We minister to our family first as SAHMs and I love this book's encouragement to help me serve my family and other SAHMs every day.

Being a mom is a full-time, ever present role that a woman is in. It is very rewarding and filled with joy and happiness, but at times it is also tiring, frustrating and overwhelming. It can be so easy to feel alone and going through the struggles and difficulties alone. "Always There: Reflections for Moms on God's Presence, edited by Susan Besze Wallace, is filled with devotionals by several different woman to encourage mothers and remind them that God is always there with them each and every moment.

Each devotional begins with a Bible verse and ends with a reflection question. Each devotional is only a couple of pages long as we all know it is difficult to find a few spare moments to ourselves, so this is a devotional book that is ideal as a tidbit of encouragement is quickly gained! I really enjoyed this book as I could relate so much to many of the topics and stories shared within the pages. This book is such an encouragement and a must-read for moms - new mom and ones whom have been moms for years!

"Available May 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group."

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book. Made me cry, more than once. May 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
With a list of authors like Carol Kuykendall, Kathi Lipp and Keri Kent Wyatt, it has to be a great book, right? I expected to be wowed and impressed, but what I didn't expect was for each one I read to hit me right where I needed it (and sometimes hard).

From "I'll Have What She's Having" by Shannon Milholland (envy another mom much?), "Do We Have to Hurry, Mommy?" by Jenne Acevedo (Ugh & Ouch!), "Sometimes I Just Want to Quit" by Renee Swope (Ever have days like that?) and "The Pregnancy Test" by Alexandra Kuykendall (I have been there!), I felt like each author was writing straight to me. Let's just say I cried (more than once) and leave it at that.

And the best part (as if it could get even more amazing) is that each devotional is short enough to read in mommy time. I even managed to fit it in between needy 4 year-old moments.

3.0 out of 5 stars Handy resource for those difficult mom moments. May 25, 2012
By Cara
Format:Paperback
"God is there in every busy, exhausting, and exhilarating moment of being a mom," says the back cover of Always There, a MOPS ministry supported collaborative project featuring the writing of Amy Parham, Ann Voskamp, Hayley DiMarco, Kathi Lipp, Kim Hill, Renee Swope, and other Christian-mom contributors. Always There is a collection of essays on finding God in the details of motherhood, with a short space for reflection after each piece. I enjoyed the ease of read here, that I could flip a page open while the coffee brewed or the bathtub filled and get a touch of inspiration and maybe a laugh or two.

As an editor myself working on my own collaborative project with many authors, I sympathize with the difficulty of maintaining continuity with so many different voices. Still, I found that this resource was lacking mainly in organization. It felt a little like already-written blog posts and magazine articles were just filed together in no particular order and bound with a pleasing cover. In fact, I recognized some of the pieces as blog posts I'd already read from familiar authors. Still, it's a handy book to keep around for those frequent moments I find myself feeling discouraged, overwhelmed, or ill-equipped. There's nothing like knowing we're not alone in our toughest moments of motherhood.

Available May 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group. I received a copy of this book free from Revell in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.
