Book Description

December 17, 2010

Follow bestselling author, speaker, and pastor James MacDonald as he delivers the biblical hope of God's promises in the midst of life's storms.

2 Peter 1:3 refers to certain portions of God's Word as exceedingly great and precious promises. Great promises are ones that don't fall apart during difficult times; they reveal hope in the midst of the storm. Precious promises are ones that we find strong enough to hold us up and resilient enough to get us through. God's promises become exceedingly great and precious to us when nothing else will do. By way of digging into the theology of God's Promises, Pastor James uncovers 5 major categories of promise in the Bible and the 5 areas about which God repeatedly makes promises. From what to do with fear and doubt to God's goodness, help, and victory-the Bible has much to say about God's presence in our difficulty.

Last year, Pastor James released When Life is Hard to point you toward hope in the midst of trials. Now, Always True will point you to God's promises, which are always true.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review - Always True February 20, 2011
Format:Paperback
Let me ask you a question...I mean a REALLY HONEST question - Do you believe God can be trusted? That might sound like a silly question. It feels strange to even type it and looks odd when I read it. Yet when life gets hard and the tough times come, I wonder if I really believe that God's promises are true. I question if I have the faith to believe that I would be able to cling to those promises if that were all I had left.

In his book, "Always True", James MacDonald attacks these questions straight on. He targets 5 specific promises which we can use as an anchor when times get tough....and even when they aren't. Unlike a feel good story or sermon with no real proof, MacDonald weaves his case of support using scripture and personal applications from his own life. The 5 promises are as follows:

1 - God is always with me. I will not fear.
2 - God is always in control. I will not doubt.
3 - God is always good. I will not despair.
4 - God is always watching. I will not falter.
5 - God is always victorious. I will not fail.

We live in a cynical world. I, for one, am as cynical at times as they come. When the times get tough, I will be honest and say I struggle with having the faith to see them through. If you're like me, then this book is for you. If you are facing a time like that right now, this book is for you. You will be challenged and inspired to believe that God is good and can be trusted.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Reminder About the Promises of God! December 26, 2010
Format:Paperback
In his new book, "Always True; God's 5 Promises When Life is hard", James McDonald brings to readers yet another valuable addition to their library. From touching family anecdotes to Bible proven reasons to trust in the Lord, James McDonald offers some tips to help people remember God keeps His promises. We can truly trust in the Word of God and James reminds us of that over and over in his book, but he offers a reminder of just who God is and what His promises mean. Through teaching the theology of promises we see what His true intentions are. God holds us up; we do not hold Him up. God created us and we have listened to so many other people for so long that we forget that His love for us has no boundaries. Through learning scripture and learning to apply it to every daily situation we can be constantly reminded that He has given us everything that we need. We need to remember that God has created us and he does not make junk. I encourage anyone who needs a little reminding of the promises made to people like you and me that God is always there to read this book. My reviews are based on a scale of 1 to 10. This book gets a 9.

There is a no lack of anxiety in today's unstable world. However, in Always True you can take comfort in the many scriptures and messages throughout this encouraging read.

"No one else but God, and nothing other than his word, delivers a nonnegotiable, unconditional "always."

"God's promises are an assurance God gives his people so they can walk by faith while they wait for him to work."

Whether you've lost a job, are involved in a broken relationship, or just overall depressed this uplifting treasure can give you hope, joy, and understanding while overcoming your anger, fear, and the "blahs".

This is a Wonderful, Well Organized read with a lot of "take-to-heart" encouragement and the scriptures to back it up.
