Decent,

I am a VWW fan and love her Tamara Hayle mystery series. However, this book is not up to VWW usual standard. It was predictable from page one! There was nothing special about the characters and they all lacked any real depth. I can't wait until VWW moves back into writing her Tamara Hayle mysteries. This particular genre is not her strong suit.

When I first started this book I was lost, It seemed so busy, I was having trouble remembering which woman he had what with. But I stayed with it. I found it a nice slow read. I liked the story. It wasn't a hopping page turner but I don't think it was meant to be. It was a good story about love, friendship and growing together. I enjoyed it.Dawn

I've read everything published that Valerie W. Wesley has written and I truly enjoy her imagination and the way she portrays her fantasies through her pen. All of the other reviews adequately describe the storyline which, I agree, is not drama filled. The story itself was just plain, simple and quite enjoyable. As usual, I started on a Saturday morning and was done by Monday morning. Very quick and light. The most important lessons of what love is really about are the areas the author has chosen to explore in this novel, as well as how our relationship with our parents determine what type of parents we will become. Quite interesting !!! If you're on vacation and looking for a nice pleasant short story, you've got to read this.

Truly. Certainly not an adjective that you'll find in Webster's, but one that I think most adequately describes this book. I found this to be a wonderfully engaging tale about Randall Hollis and the women who inhabit his world....
Meet Medora. A gifted and talented artist, Medora is beautiful to boot. She's also known Randall Hollis practically all of her life. She's been comfortable with their relationship for years..noncommittal, completely uncomplicated, with an ease in interaction that only comes with knowing someone for many years. But she's reached a point in her life where what he is giving her is just not enough. She's decided to put Randall out of her life, but it looks as though that decision did not come soon enough...... And then there's Ana. Many years older than Randall, she is flattered by his attentions. He has made her feel beautiful and desirable, something that she hasn't felt in a long time. She even forgives him his earlier deceptions, and their relationship strengthens and deepens. Randall thinks that he may have truly found love, and Ana believes that he may be her second chance. And then their world blows up when more deceptions are discovered, with the bomb being ignited by one..... Taylor Benedict. Many years younger than Randall, she has been having a physical relationship with him for months. Young, immature, and completely self-centered, she is the quintessential B.A.P. But why is it that Randall is only available on Thursdays? And what does she really want from him anyway...and he from her? This a tightly woven tale in which the author brings all of the characters together very nicely. The relationship drama is really only secondary to the author's message through her story of how our relationships with our parents can impact our life choices, and forever determine the direction in which we choose to travel. A disappointing story,

This story of Randall Hollis and the women who "love" him is rather trite and uninspiring. The chronic womanizer gets his in the end but other than that, the story has no real merit. The Tamara Hayle mysteries are much better than this.

VALERIE IS A GREAT WRITER, WITH GREAT THOUGHTS BUT IT TAKES HER TO LONG TO GET THERE. I ENJOYED THE STORY BUT NOT UNTIL I WAS PAST THE MIDDLE. IT TOOK TO LONG TO GET TO THE POINT. THE STORY WAS ABOUT A YOUNG WOMANAIZING MAN AND HIM COMING TO GRIPS WITH REALITY.

I purchased this book off of a clearance rack at a local bookstore. It only cost me the price of a movie ticket, and in my opinion, that is about all it was worth. I would have been annoyed if I had paid $15 for a book that I finished so quickly. As I predicted, it was about as entertaining as the average love story that I see at the movie theater, and though enjoyable, nothing to rave about. The writing was clear and to the point, though not especially moving or poetic.
I did appreciate the uncommon interests of her characters -- they were makers of, sellers of, and buyers of African American art. I come from a family of art collectors, though not one as glitzy as those she writes about, and it was nice to see a black author glamourize a world other than sports, drugs, music or the movie industry. Medora and TW were especially interesting characters to me, because of their art and because of Medora's strength and resolve, despite her relationship with her father. I wanted to know more about them. After reading the descriptions, I really wanted to see her paintings. Initially, I even thought that the story was about Medora. But it wasn't, not really. It was about her ex, and the other women with whom he was involved. Overall, I enjoyed getting to know all the characters. I would read about them again.

This book really demonstrates Valerie's creativity. This is a different area of writing for Ms. Wesley, however, I did enjoy her novel. The problems with these characters were typical for people who never learned how to love. Medora was a strong woman and knew what she wanted out of life. Randall never felt love, was never taught how to love so when he had love, he didn't know what he had. Ana had been hurt before, but was willing to give love another chance and thought that Randall was the right man for her, however, Ana was misguided again. All in all, it was a good book with a great storyline. I did enjoy it!
