Book Description

As a wedding
planner, Sherilyn Caine should have the
perfect wedding experience...

<span style="font-size: 8.5pt; font-family:
tahoma;">After all, she just landed her dream job at
the
wedding destination hotel,
The Tanglewood. The rest should be a piece
of cake for Sherilyn's Type A
personality.

<p
style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 8.5pt; font-family:
tahoma;">But while everything else goes
smoothly, her own wedding plans start to
sink
 right before her eyes. One
way or the other, Sherilyn is determined to make this wedding work—until the latest development
threatens to call the whole thing off. Is it possible that Sherilyn is allergic to her
fiancé?

"What a fun read! This is perfect to take with you
to the beach or to sit by a fire, although people will be looking at you strangely as you laugh
and nod at all the problems Sherilyn has to face. And the recipes are to die for! Anyone who has
been to a wedding will love the humor and romance in this book!" - Camy Tang, author of The
Sushi Series and Protection for Hire

"You’ll want
to say 'I do' to this delightful story filled with fun, romance, memorable characters, and all
the charm of the South." -  Jenny B. Jones, award-winning author of Save the
Date
and A Charmed Life Series

"This book will make you
want to check into The Tanglewood Inn for a nice long stay! Always the Wedding
Planner, Never the Bride
is filled with friendship and romance and Sandra D.
Bricker’s trademark wit and warmth. I want to hang out with these women! Bricker’s novels are
like a fun visit with your best friend!" -  Judy Christie, author of Hurry Less, Worry Less and
fiction titles, including The Glory of Green, Book #3 in The Green
Series

"I didn’t think Sandra D. Bricker could write another story in
this series to outdo Always the Baker, Never the Bride. I was wrong. With
her gift for natural, sparkling dialogue and her ability to throw believable, tension-causing
conflicts into the path of our heroine, Sherilyn, Bricker has written another winner in
Always the Wedding Planner, Never the Bride. While it was wonderful
revisiting characters from the first book, new lovebirds Sherilyn and Andy stole my heart and
awakened my empathy as soon as I met them. Before you start reading the book, you might need to
check your own planner—it’s hard to set it down once you dive in!" - Trish Perry, author of The
Tea Shop Series, including Perfect Blend and Tea for
Two

3.0 out of 5 stars A Bittersweet sequel to Always the Baker, Never the Bride December 19, 2011
By Iola
Format:Paperback
Wedding planner Sherilyn Keyes has left Chicago behind to marry Andrew Drummond IV, an Atlanta native with a family name that tops all the social registers. She joins Emma, her old college roommate and baker, in working at the Tanglewood Inn, a destination wedding hotel. But Sherilyn faces a series of challenges to her relationship and her faith as she and Andrew settle into their new jobs and begin planning their own wedding.

This is the second book in Sandra Bricker's Never the bride series, following Always the Baker, Never the Bride (which I found to be a sweet love story, if you will excuse the pun). The final two titles in the series will apparently be Always the Designer, Never the Bride and Always the Baker, Finally the Bride. Always the Wedding Planner was enjoyable, with moments of humour, but overall I found it bittersweet - there just seemed to be a sadness about it that was not present in Always the Baker, which I enjoyed much more.

Some of what I found funny might have been unintentional. For example, at one point in the story, Emma bakes a new desert. She says, "it's called Pavlova. It's an Australian dessert that Russell told me about". Hmmm. The actual origin of Pavlova is the source of much trans-Tasman rivalry, and we in New Zealand don't exactly agree with this interpretation. The e-book I reviewed had a few entertaining but slightly distracting typographical errors (the song title `Waltzing With Matilda', a reference to an `empire waste' dress), but these will hopefully be fixed in the final print version.

Overall, this was good but not great. However, I often find the second book in a series is the weakest, so I will probably read the next book, if only to find out how the characters are moving on in their lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really cute! February 3, 2012
By Linda M
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the second book I've read by Sandra D. Bricker (read "Always the Baker, Never the Bride" as well). Both were really cute and clean. I appreciate that! Both are Christian books, so religion, prayer, church, etc., are woven throughout. These are not super heavy-duty stories, they are light, clean and fun. I love the books put out by Abingdon Press and try to snag them up whenever I can!

3.0 out of 5 stars 3/5 on Books to the Sky October 18, 2011

Honestly, this book was a little too religious for me. There was a lot of praying and references to God. They even went to Andy's massive childhood church. There were others, but I don't want to give anything away with too much detail. I'm sure the first book was like this too but it had been a little while since I've read it.)

Underneath all of that though, it was a cute love story. They had their ups and downs just like everyone. I was unsure why they brought in Russell Walker in for awhile (actually I'm still kind of not sure). I thought they were throwing a wrench into the Sherilyn and Andy relationship. That ended up happening, but they didn't use Russell They ended up bring back exes of both Sherilyn and Andy.

There's a major "twist" to the whole story about Sherilyn. Emma briefly mentions something that Sherilyn did years ago that gave her awful karma, but Sherilyn always stopped her before any details were shared. At the end you find out what her deep dark secret is. I had a hunch from the beginning and I ended up being right.

There were a lot of current references that threw me off. Like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. They were a bit unnecessary, in my opinion.

All in all I enjoyed the book. I won't read it again, but I'll more than likely ending up reading her next books to find out what happens to everyone in the story line. I've really come to enjoy all the characters.

(I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review.)

More About the Author

"I'm going to be a writer when I grow up!" Sandra D. Bricker declared these words to her father on a Sunday afternoon in Slidell, Louisiana. She was 5 years old, and was referring to being able to string her cursive letters together to write her full name for the first time, but the declaration proved somewhat prophetic.

By the time she reached high school and her first article was published in The Cincinnati Enquirer, Sandie knew writing was what she wanted to do. For more than a decade, Sandie lived in Los Angeles and, while writing in every spare moment, she studied screenwriting and worked as a personal assistant and publicist to some of daytime television's hottest stars. When her mother became ill in Florida, she walked away from that segment of her life and moved cross-country to take on a new role: Caregiver.

"I guess most people would see my career as a publicist as a sort of dream job. But giving it up turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me!" she declares. "Not only was I given the gift of getting to know my mother as an adult woman before she passed away, but I was also afforded the blessing of being able to re-focus on writing novels in an effort to pursue my dream of a writing career."

That career weaves a web that draws in every age of reader. Sandie's interest in telling a story knows no boundaries. Three novels for middle readers carved out the beginning of the journey; then Avalon Books followed up with two hardbound romance novels in 2001: unWANTED: Husband (romantic comedy) and Change of Heart (romantic suspense). The response was tremendous, and Sandie was asked to pen a sequel to Change of Heart ... and so Sins of the Past was released in December 2003. Next up was another romantic comedy; Wish I Weren't Here was released in February 2005.

"I'm a Christian woman, first and foremost," she says. "So the last couple of years has been a bit of a dream-come-true. Summerside Press chose me as one of two authors to launch their new Love Finds You line in October 2008 with Love Finds You in Snowball, Arkansas, a romantic comedy for the inspirational market. So the best of all worlds, as far as I'm concerned!"

More hilarity continued to follow from this award-winning author.

Love Finds You in Holiday, Florida (Fall 2009) and Love Finds You in Carmel, California (Fall 2010) for Summerside Press, and The Big 5-OH! (Spring 2010) and Always the Baker, Never the Bride (Fall 2010) for Abingdon Press.

Future books will include sequels, The Big 4-OH! and The Big 3-OH! for Abingdon Press.

After spending nearly 15 years dealing with her celebrity clients' fans, Sandie finds it amusing that she is suddenly the one getting fan mail! "When people were actually buying my books at a recent signing, I found myself wanting to go around and invite them all to dinner or offer to bake them cookies. Hey! In fact ... maybe I'll do that very soon."
