Essential reading,
By A Customer
This review is from: Alzheimer Solutions: A Personal Guide for Caregivers (Paperback)
As someone who has lost a loved one to this terrible disease, I really wish I had had a copy of this extraordinary book. Some of the anguish and the many of the unknowns would have been spared me and my family. In clear, no-nonsense language, Judith Harch and Jim Knittweis offer invaluable insights and necessary, practical advice that any Alzheimer's patient caregiver should have. In fact, this Guide should be mandatory reading prescribed by the medical community to Alzheimer's caretakers or support groups.

This review is from: Alzheimer Solutions: A Personal Guide for Caregivers (Paperback)
Alzheimer Solutions, a Personal Guide for Caregivers by Tim Knittweis & Judy Harch speaks simply and directly about the issues Alzheimer caregivers face. It addresses the physical, mental and emotional symptoms of the person with Alzheimer's as well as the problems created by the stress of coping with the disease on caregivers. The book is organized in a question and answer format which makes it easy to pinpoint the specific information that is needed as the disease progresses. It also includes references that caregivers can turn to for support. I wish I had this resource when my sister and I were caring for my mother.

By DICK SAUERS (Newark, DE USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alzheimer Solutions: A Personal Guide for Caregivers (Paperback)
Knittweis and Harch have produced a very practical, readible, well-organized "how to" guide for alzheimer caregivers. Topics such as dealing with daily activities, safety issues, common medical problems, and caregiver stress are addressed in a straight foward question-and-answer format. Also included is helpful information about alzheimer disease centers, support groups, useful patient products, legal support, and guidance on choosing a nursing home. I believe this book will be a valuable guide for anyone dealing with this difficult problem.
