About the Author
William G. Hammond, J.D., is the founder and owner of The Elder & Disability Law Firm, P.A. in Overland Park, Kansas. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.A. Govt. 1977) and the University of Notre Dame Law School (J.D. 1980). Mr. Hammond is co-author of The Kansas and Missouri Nursing Home Guide and also writes the monthly publication Elder Law Today for health care professionals. He lectures frequently on legal issues faced by loved ones who have a family member with Alzheimer's.
Karen Hays Weber, J.D., a lawyer emphasizing elder law in her practice, concentrates on Medicaid and estate planning, probate administration and guardianship and conservatorship estate administration. She received her bachelor's degree and her juris doctorate from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
Mary Helen Gautreaux is a registered nurse and a legal nurse consultant. She earned her bachelor of arts from the University of Maryland, European Division in Germany and studied philosophy and theology at St. Thomas Seminary and Iliff University in Denver, Colorado.
