Great CD....reminds me of the country music I grew up on (mid to late 70's).Meaningful lyrics, a voice not hiding behind a loud band...keep it up..we need more like this...Trashville take note..we (the consumers in the real world) love this kind of CD..

I have to admit that I never heard of Jason Eady until this CD arrived. It's his fourth album and - per his press releases - it's completely different than the previous three. But, based on what I've heard here, I like his songs and his choice of fellow musicians. Eady is based in Austin, TX and gets to hang with well-known locals like producer Lloyd Maines (who plays on this album rather than playing Producer; that role goes to Kevin Welch) and Redd Volkaert. These guys are here on the 12 tracks on the 44-minute album. Eady gets vocal accompaniment by none other that Patty Loveless on one track (and a few other females on a few other tracks).

The lead off (title song) track sets the mood and you know this is not "Top 40" country 2012 style. This is the kind of music they USED to play when radio played Waylon and Willie. My favorite track is "Sober on the Weekends", with a great telecaster solo by Volkeart. This song - one of the two non-Eady penned songs - was written by Scott Copeland and could easily have fit on Brad Paisley's "Play" album (a big favorite of mine). Copeland's other song "Water into Wine" - that closes the album - probably won't get Eady a lot of appearances in churchs. It's got the kind of bent that Kinky Friedman (another Texas singer/songwriter) has in his best songs.

There's an inserted booklet with all the lyrics (very helpful) but you might be challenged to read them. Whoever decided on the typeface style should be replaced the next time around.

I see that the physical CD is not yet available on Amazon - only the MP3 - but check out some samples, which are here, and give Eady a listen. If you like "old school" country, I think you'll like this one.

True Jason Eady fans may be disappointed that it lacks the folk blues that Jason is known for but any country traditionalist will rejoice in the great country sound Jason has captured in this album.

PLEASE BUY and help support a rising musician who's more than payed his dues! And get a great country album to boot.
