Book Description

Pssst. Here’s a secret – Breitbart.com writer Kurt Schlichter, author of the hilarious #1 Amazon Kindle Bestselling ebook "I Am a Conservative: Uncensored, Undiluted and Absolutely Un-PC," is not really a liberal. Not by a long shot.

Now he’s back with "I Am a Liberal: A Conservative’s Guide to Dealing With Nature’s Most Irritating Mistake," and he’s more caring than ever.

But beware: if you’re interested in compromise, bipartisanship, and reasoned, rationale debates that end up with wimpy conservatives pummeled and bloodied by their ruthless liberal opponents, move on. This is not the book for you.

If you want a field manual stuffed with un-PC essays and searing mockery designed to make liberals cry, you’re in the right place.

"I Am a Liberal" is an uproarious, no-holds-barred study of the modern American liberal, taking aim squarely at the smug snobs who, despite never having run anything, somehow imagine that they are morally and technically qualified to run everything – especially your life.

Longer, funnier, and packed with more go-for-the-throat sarcasm than its predecessor, "I Am a Liberal" takes no prisoners as it teaches what every conservative needs to understand about:

• Liberal Argument Tactics
• Liberal History
• Surprising Liberal Facts
• The Collectivist Rainbow’s Fifty Shades of Fail
• The Curse of Open-Mindedness
• And Much, Much More...

From gutsy calls to honest reelection slogans to Hollywood’s biggest morons, "I Am a Liberal" is a graduate-level education in understanding and defeating what is truly Nature’s most irritating mistake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, honest and un-PC September 18, 2012

If you're not following Kurt Schlichter on twitter, you should be. He's hilarious, sarcastic and dead right. In his second ebook, Kurt digs into the Liberal mindset, a most frightening journey. With "I Am A Liberal", Kurt attacks the liberal argument theory of not arguing on facts or logic, but by loud volume and violence. From there, he punches holes in smugness from liberals who, in Kurt's world, should be fetching him his latte.

The book is great, and makes a good antidote to the MMFA-led bias factory. Give this book to your fellow liberals, and show them that you are indeed #caring.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, fun, hoping for a bit more October 3, 2012

Kurt Schlichter is a US Army Colonel, an LA Lawyer, and a one-time stand-up comedian. He is also required Twitter reading for the sort of conservatives who yearn for full engagement with the Enemy. All of those things come out in this fun takedown of the radical American left, from Occupy to the racist policies the Democrat party has championed throughout its history.

If you're looking at this book, you've almost certainly come across Mr. Schlichter on Twitter. If you enjoy his posts there, you'll like "I Am a Liberal", which expands on some familiar themes while opening a few new fronts in the War on Socialism. Hey, it's a 4/5 star review; I clearly enjoyed it. Buy the book. It'll make you a more #caring human being.

Now, let the nit-picking commence.

I admit I was hoping for a bit more Ann Coulter, and a bit less Rodney Dangerfield, than what I found. In other words, more of the sort of article Mr. Schlichter posts on the Breitbart website - those tend to be rather good. Unfortunately, you can see the Lawyer's legal briefs and the Colonel's reports come out in occasional runs of choppy prose, while the stand-up comedian dominates the pages and pages of Twitter-style one-liners. The tweets are often fun, but at times feel like filler when coming down from a particularly well-argued chapter. It hurts the flow, and I find myself flipping through tweets to get to the next chapter. Alternatively, a single favorite tweet might make a great subtitle for each chapter. It'd be a more effective way to tie the Twitter audience into a larger effort than pages of familiar, but out-of-place, tweets. (Kurt - that idea's free)

I think Kurt Schlichter has in him the potential to start writing Conservative must-reads; he just needs to transition from Twitter Airborne into Literary Operator. Developing enough confidence and capability as a writer to leave the one-liners behind and write a full-throated novel will take him there.

Kurt Schlichter's new book "I Am A Liberal" is dangerous - very dangerous. The belly laughs are so frequent and intense it truly becomes painful to read. But read it you will: the book is so funny it's hard to put down, so don't be surprised if you find yourself bleary-eyed and in pain at 3:30 in the morning trying to finish the damned thing.
If you're into this type of painful, insomnia-producing exercise, I recommend Mr. Schlichter's other book "I Am A Conservative" to be certain you show up late to work with sore abdominal muscles, a headache, and a big smile on your face.
