Wonderful Poem About an Important American Moment in History,
By
This review is from: I am a man: ode to Martin Luther King, Jr (Hardcover)
From the book - This is a simple, evocative poem dedicated to the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The words are black and clear, the pictrues somber and vivid, and together they follow Dr. King and his non-violent army of men, women and children as they link hands and take their stand. Though cursed, beaten and jailed, they fight to be free, to be equal. The man of peace comes to know the highest honors the world can bestow. Then one spring evening the shots ring out and he is gone.
The poem is haunting and poignant, the illustrations match the timbre of the poem. A Wonderful book to introduce the civil rights movement in the United States and Martin Luther King's leadership. |
