More About the Author

Jane Bernard lives in New York City. Her degrees in Philosophy (The New School for Social Research) and Special Education (Bank Street College), and three decades of informal Zen practice form the foundation for Jane's uniquely accessible perspective on intuition and the creative process.

She has been a writer for 25 years, starting as a technical writer for educational think-tanks, educational television, ghost writing speeches, re-writing books, screenplays, and proposals, as well as publishing creative writing. She has also been an adjunct writing professor at several universities.

Jane has been on The Montel Show and is a regular on national and international radio talking about intuition. Jane's first book, Fine Tuning is designed to help people recognize and tune in to their intuition. It can be opened to any page for a sound-bite of insight. Jane's savvy helps people connect with clarity to make empowering Life choices by using their senses with intuition and experience.

Because Jane Bernard is the expert to talk to about intuition, she was asked to write a book about intuitive eating. Based on interviews and observation, this new book talks about eating hot buttons from the dieter's perspective while revealing and explaining how intuitive eaters depend on real tools to stay in control of their eating.

Jane privately coaches people to use their intuition to overcome obstacles and connect with success. She can often be heard on radio or seen on TV. Additionally Jane is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution.

I've been struggling with weight and other emotional insecurities all my life. Then one day, a wonderful woman with the most incredible gift "walked into my life." The gift is her positive energy and attitude and her book: Am I Really Hungry? Through her guidance, Jane Bernard, awoke my 6 senses and what she calls "Intuitive Eating." Through Intuitive Eating, I am learning to use my 10 tools. I may not remember them all, but I will say out loud one of the tools and it helps put me back on track.

I can recognize, now, what I'm truly hungry for....be it social contact or food and the kinds of foods I want! I eat for health and energy. I have gone from eating out of boredom, loneliness, anxiousness and frustration to having an active social both with new friends and volunteering. For the first time in my life, I feel liberated and good about myself. And this is only the beginning! Thank you, Jane, I love you.

Interesting how the Universe provides what you need at the point you are willing to except it. Jane Bernard's book, Am I Really Hungry? came into my life just when a great psychotherapist had helped me get my mind and heart out of lockdown. I'd logged years of yo-yo dieting and subscribed to rigid, almost cult like diet programs that left me focused only on calories, scales, weighing food, weighing me, diary keeping, and exercising. It felt like I was in prison. So, I'd rebel, and whatever weight had come off came right back on with maybe some extra bonus pounds, too. But with Jane's method of intuitive eating and the new tools given in this blessed book, I am becoming increasingly aware of my body's needs. It tells me things like, "I'd like some fresh greens, please. And add a high quality protein and some fruit, but not too much to make me uncomfortably stuffed." And guess what else my intuition is telling me, "Child of Grace, if you stumble, have courage and pick yourself up; start again. Take good care of yourself. You are worthy!"

This book is a wonder. I had the privilege of working with Jane Bernard in her coaching program and she has helped me to transform the way that I think about my body and about food. I can not say enough about what a gift her work is to the world. This is not a dieting book, this is a course in enlightenment, which makes you lighter in the end! I literally keep this book on my desk and open it when I need some inspiration and encouragement. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking to transform their relationship with food so that they can be happier and healthier and I absolutely recommend Jane's coaching course. She is a blessing.
