Before You Buy
Can you add an item after your current washer has started the cycle? Do you have to run small loads because you forgot to add a necessary item when the cycle began?
The add-a-garment indicator lets you know when it's safe to make last-minute substitutions or additions to the laundry lineup.
How much room do you have for a laundry pair? Is it located in a convenient spot for your household?
The Amana front load laundry pair offers flexible installation options including placing it under a countertop or for smaller spaces with the dryer stacked on top of the washer.
How much noise, vibration and disruption does your current washer cause in your household?
The vibration control system built into this laundry pair is designed to minimize disruption in your home. It also makes it possible for you to install it in a more convenient location such as the main living area or upstairs.
Are you looking for ways to make your household more green?
Save money on utility costs while conserving water and energy with this ENERGY STAR rated washer.
Measure the space for your new washer (or laundry pair) as well as any doorways or hallways the appliances must fit through.
Make sure the floor is level, with no more than a 1" slope.
Ensure that there are hot and cold water lines within 3' of washer hookups.
If installing a laundry pair, determine which connection you need, gas or electric. A gas dryer will need an approved gas line with shut off valve. An electric dryer will need a three or four prong outlet with a 30-amp circuit.
Limited One Year Warranty - Parts and Labor - For one (1) year from the original retail purchase date, any part that fails in normal home use will be repaired or replaced free of charge. Refer to amana.com or the individual product Use and Care Guide for warranty details.

The video is so you can hear an actual spin cycle. It's not super quiet but I have adjusted to the new sounds.
Make sure you read the manual before using the washer. There is important information in correct loading and how to add different types of detergents. Also there is a list of how long each type of cycle will run so you can plan around those times. Heavy Duty 1hr 22 min to wash rinse and spin 26 minutes, drain and spin 14 min. Delicate wash time 37 minutes.
Okay now the actual washing. Being my first front loader I watched the first few loads.Read more ›

Note: After having this washer for a few more months I'll update this review and let everyone know how this product is holding up.
Starting with the look, this Amana washer looks like something you'd find on the Starship Enterprise. The front door opens on the right side (swinging open to the left). I don't know if this is a standard, but every house I've been in has the washer hook-up to the left of the dryer hook-up. As a result, the door opens away from the dryer, which allows you to easily move your laundry from washer to dryer without the door getting in the way. Furthermore, this washer is intended to be stackable with its mated dryer. I don't have that dryer, but if you have limited space, this is the solution for you!
The washer has many cycles and options to choose from, and all are entered by pressing a large silver button until the indicator light matches the options you want. It is easy to use and intuitive to control (I ran the first loads without looking at the manual in order to see how intuitive the controls were). Once you press start, the wash begins and the door is locked. This prevents water spillage, but if you are used to a top-loader, you'll have to remember to check your load first. If you find a sock you dropped, it will have to wait for the next load! (There is an "add-a-garment" indicator, but you'll still be standing there waiting, whereas with the top loader you can just throw the item right in.)
On that note, things like socks and stockings are supposed to go in a bag before washing, as they may get stuck in the mechanism. We still wash the socks free-range, and we haven't seen a problem.
Speaking of seeing, that was a concern when we got this.Read more ›
All washers we have owned used a dial to turn to the type of wash you need to use. With this washer you push the main button until the desired type of wash is highlighted. The washer shows the process by a little light next to a label. There is no digital display. We were used to having the buttons and information on the top at the back of the washer. On this machine they are on the front of the washer. One problem is that you can accidently bump a button.
Our clothes looked and felt clean. Front loaders take at least a half hour longer then top loaders but are supposed to be more energy efficient. The spin cycle works well and is pretty quiet standing next to it. With a heavy load of towels there was no movement or travel of the machine at all.
The top of the washer is flat a nice feature if you like to leave your laundry basket or the matching dryer is designed so that they can be used as a stackable set. Without the optional stand the washer is pretty low to get into and may be required by anyone who has trouble reaching into low places.
There are a few things we don't care for in a front loader. One, is after the washing is complete water will run off the inside of the door onto the floor when you open the door to get the laundry. When filling the drum with laundry we need one hand to hold the laundry in or it can fall back out, making loading a bit annoying.
Overall it is a great washing machine, not expensive and has the necessary features to do most laundry.
