I was kind of hesitant to purchase this washer based on some things I'd read online, and not being able to see it in person. But it was on sale (I bought it directly from Amazon, not one of the other vendors), I really needed a new washer asap, and I wanted a reasonably priced front loader, so I decided to take my chances. I've had it for a week now, and so far I'm pretty happy with it! My former washer was a top-load extra-large capacity HE machine (no agitator), so the very long cycle times are nothing new for me. I'm doing more loads, because of the smaller capacity. That's just my personal experience, though, and not a criticism of the machine; I knew it was only 3.5 cubic feet when I bought it. However, a person coming from a standard, regular-sized top-loader with an agitator would probably see in increase in the size of the laundry loads they were able to do. It's large enough to do a queen comforter. But items are coming out SO much cleaner than my old machine, I'm willing to live with the loss of capacity! Even though it's HE, the clothes still get very thoroughly saturated with water. With the top loader, I had to use the "blanket" cycle for everything. This overrode the sensor and automatically added extra water, otherwise there wasn't enough to clean with. The spin cycle is good, and most things are coming out adequately spun, although one load of a bath mat and my dogs' stuffed toys was pretty wet, even after an extra "drain and spin" cycle, and had to be manually wrung before being put in the dryer. At this point, I'm chalking this up to the extra-absorbent nature of the items, because everything else has been ok after spinning. To sum up, it cleans extremely well (the most important thing as far as I'm concerned!), is quiet, simple to operate, the flat top is handy for folding things, and the price was great for a front-loader. 4.5 stars!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
High efficiency is important these days and this little Amana front loader is efficient in more ways than one. It uses a fraction of the water a top loader uses, and half as much soap. The machine is attractive and minimalist, and it lives up to its promises.

My last washing machine was a top loader so deep that I could barely fish socks out of it without bruising my ribs. I needed the size because, as a pet owner, I wash big bulky items like comforters, blankets and furniture throws every week.

I was a little concerned because the new machine is smaller than the old. I needn't have been. This one handles big loads far better.

Okay, so it takes twice the time to do a load as it did my traditional machine. Since I usually procrastinate until I have to do at least four loads in a row, this doesn't exactly thrill me, but I'll adjust because everything is cleaner, and the clothes come out amazingly dry and mysteriously smooth. You only need run the dryer for a few minutes to finish them off, or if you like to hang some of items on the line, you'll find your quick-drying clothes far less wrinkly than you're used to. I'm still trying to figure out how that works.

Maybe it has to do with the lack of an agitator. This is a boon in several ways. For one, there's a lot more room in the washer without that big arm taking up real estate. My big fluffy comforters fit far more easily into this seemingly smaller machine than they ever did in the top loader. For another, no agitator means no scarf, sleeve or trouser leg can strangle itself on the base of the agitator and wreak havoc, however minor. Or major. The lack of agitator also means it's much safer to toss your super-delicates in instead of hand washing.

I like things to be simple and intuitive, and this washer fits the bill. The only thing I don't like is the stated need to put socks and other small items in a mesh bag so they won't get stuck and clog things up. I've only done this for small, thin nylon socks, not for regular socks, and have had no problems in a month of washes.

After the addition of a pedestal so that I don't have to do so much bending and kneeling, this quiet, smooth machine will be perfect. Highly recommended.

We bought our machine a few years ago and have had one problem after another.
First the seal leaked so a repairman came and replaced it, with the same model seal, and once again it started leaking so we called again and this time it was replaced with a different model door seal and the problem was fixed. Then twice we had a coin get stick in the motor so we had to pay to have a repairman come and remove the coin. To my way of thinking this is a major flaw in the machine. No coin should be able to get into the motor, let alone twice! Yes, coins should be removed from pockets but sometimes they can get missed. Never had this happen in 40 years using a top load machine! Now we have a broken door latch, not the hook on the door but inside the body of the machine where the hook should fit! Not happy with this machine at all....with all the repairs and inconvenience. Would not recommend this machine!

So far I have only used the machine one time but I absolutely am in love. First of all it's extremely quiet. You can wash while everyone is sleeping and no one will be awaken by loud washing as with my old top loader. I am so amazed with the thing, I sit and stare at it while it is washing. I know that's silly but you can't hear it so I have to check to see if its working because I am not use to such peaceful washing. I love this friggin thing. On the down side though, you are supposed to use a mesh bag to wash small items (socks). In my opinion, the washer should come with a small bag for those things so you will wonder what to do with it and then you will read the manual. Stupid me read it after I started the wash so my sock got stuck in the seal. I don't like that but that's my fault. The other most important thing to know is; do not expect it to come with hoses. Maybe I am a stupido for thinking that it would but it doesn't so I recommend you buy hoses before your delivery date. It took my husband and I about and hour to install because the manual is a little hard to follow. Other than that, I am truly satisfied with my purchase and it was well worth the wait.

We purchased this version from Lowes a few years ago after our the stack able washer/drier that came with our house finally died. The first year or so it worked as intended. Sometime during the second year it started leaking in the front area. Looking into the gasket and drain system on the door we started noticing it started catching pieces of clothes and getting stuck in the drain. It was something that was manageable as it still worked. 4 months ago we started having major problems. The washer would start a cycle then stop and beep (3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps). Something with the control board causing it not to move to the next cycle forcing us to shut it down, and force it to the next cycle. So one load that would take less than an hour would now take 4 hours :(

It's getting one star because of it fits perfectly for a closet. If it lasted more than 2 years without problems I would have given it more stars. It's not even worth paying for repairs/parts. Don't even bother with Amana.

Ordered both the washer and dryer set PLUS got the extended warranty on the washer. It is now 3 years later and the washer is DEAD. Extended warranty states "if we can't fix it we will replace it" HAHAHAHA big joke that is. They offered a replacement or a cash out of 595.50 - after researching the washer on several sites it priced out at 800.00 so I went with the replacement. Received 2 emails confirming the replacement and then a phone call saying that they were NOT going to replace it because "no one in my area dealt with stackable units". They then said my only option was for the cash out of 595.50 which is only 75% of the price of a new washer. SO I wasted my money on the washer AND the extended warranty. I told them that I would be contacting the BBB and Attorney General about their unlawful contracts AND inferior products and they literally did not care one bit.

manufacturer responsibility to defective parts sucks. Door boot seal got worn out and my clothes stick to it and got ripped after they replaced it with a faulty one. call them to fix it and because my warranty was up they say I have to fix it. My washer is not even 2 years old and I now have to buy another one because the cost to just replace that seal is close to the cost of a new one. I am very disappointed with amana, I was robbed of my money and I lost my clothes in the process.

I ordered this machine when My local appliance store failed to deliver the washer I ordered from their store. They guaranteed next day delivery and the Machine I purchased was in stock at the store and the store was only half a mile from my house. yet they still could not deliver on time.

After getting my refund from the store, I purchased this Amana from Amazon Prime. I was called to schedule delivery later that day and by the next afternoon my machine was delivered. That's fast! Wish I had just come to Amazon in the first place, then I wouldn't have wasted 2 days at the local store being disappointed. The service and delivery could not have been any better and the machine cost $100 less than the machine I tried to purchase locally.

As for the performance I can not complain. The wash cycles are a little longer than my old washer but since the clothes are coming out so much cleaner than before I do not mind. In addition the spin cycle on this machine leaves the clothes so dry that my dryer time has been cut in half. So the time I lost in the wash cycle is more than made up by the shorter drying time. The shorter drying time has also saved me about $25 in electricity the first month of operation. This washer may not have some of the fancier options you find in the top of the line High efficiency washers that cost several hundred dollars more than the Amana, But if you are looking for a more utilitarian machine that is easy to use and provides great results I am sure you'll like this washer.

I purchased this washer in February and it seemed to work fine for sometime. But, then I started having the same problems as others have reported and finally it just stopped working. One technician (Chad) showed up and said this is a common problem and that a new board (main controller) is needed. He ordered it and set a follow-up appointment a week later to come in and install that part. A second technician (Robert) showed up a week later and said it actually needs a pressure sensor. I informed him about Chad and Robert says his ticket has absolutely no reference to Chad's visit or any part order! I called Chad and had him talk to Robert. Chad said he does not remember the visit either since he services so many. Well, guess what? Now, Chad shows up today for the second follow-up, puts in the new pressure sensor and says "pressure sensor, my a**" and repeats that the washer "requires a new board, as I said originally" !!

So, I am back to waiting again. I have already spent over $50 the past 2 weeks visiting the laundromat (in addition to wasting many hours of my time). My frustration level is building and I now do not have much faith that the problem will actually be fixed the next week.

If you decide to purchase this washer, I wish you luck. Because, if you are lucky and happen to get a non-defective piece, it is a decent washer to own.
