Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Since 1972, Amana Tool has been producing router bits and has become the global leader in its field. In fact, the company was the first manufacturer to produce router bits according to the Holz BG German standard for safety and quality. This standard contains rules that determine the structure and quality of the tool's material in order to create the safest environment for the user. From its beginning, Amana Tool has always used the highest quality materials and its tools are produced using unique technologies, a majority of which were developed and built by the company's engineers following decades of testing and experience. For example, Amana Tool uses carbon alloy steel for its router bits that contains vanadium particles. This improves the structural integrity of the steel and prevents corrosion and defects in the internal structure of the material that can lead to cracks and breaks. High-tech machinery processes the carbon alloy steel to manufacture the router bodies in a single clamping. This yields router bits with superior balance, centricity, precision and symmetry. The Multi-Rabbet bit steps in 1/16-Inch increments from a 1/8-Inch cut width to 1/2-Inch simply by switching ball-bearing guides. Six different bearings are provided. Depth of cut capacity of 1/2-Inch. Use in any handheld or table-mounted router. Depths of 1/8-Inch, 1/4-Inch, 5/16-Inch, 3/8-Inch, 7/16-Inch and 1/2-Inch.

Until I purchased this bit, I had been making rabbets with a plain straight bit. I had to set the fence to the thickness of the stock to rout the rabbet. With this bit you simply align the bearing with the router table fence, and you get a consistent rabbet up to 1/2". Rabbet size can be changed by installing a different size bearing (included in the kit). This is much more convienent for me than setting up a dado blade. Great quality of cut.

The only reason I don't give this bit 5 stars is the instruction sheet that comes with it is misleading.

It only shows 4 bearings for 1/2 through 5/16 rabbits while the bag clearly contains 6 bearings for 1/8 through 1/2 rabbits. It even includes a couple of extra screws of different lengths as the bearings are a different thickness as well as diameter.

The nice thing about this bit is I don't have to waste time setting up a dado in my table saw for just a few rabbits, a real time saver.

The 1/2 inch shaft allows it to be used in your bigger router so don't get this if all you have is a trim or compact router that only uses 1/4 shaft bits.

It does what its suppose to do, I find the Amana bits just as good as the Freud bits so when the price is in your favor go with the Amana bits or just go with the Amana bits.
