3.0 out of 5 stars superficial, but "feel-good-reading"
I admit, I don't usually read this type of book, but this time, I needed a really, really! light read. I almost didn't read the whole thing, because Amanda was quite annoying in the beginning, but she got better as the trip to Oregon progressed. Of course, Amanda is the sort of cliche book that I usually scorn, but hey! go ahead and read it; there's a nice, happy ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great great book, August 29, 1999
This review is from: Amanda (Sunfire) (Paperback)
This was my first Sunfire book, and though I don't remember where I picked it up, I'm very glad that I did! Amanda is certainly a well created character. Though the storyline is a bit cliche, in which the spoiled girl grows up during hardship, it is written well enough to be convincing, as is the romance between Amanda and Ben. This is certainly one of the best and most thoroughly developed stories in the series. One of the best aspects of the book is that there are many great things in here besides just the romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good start to the Sunfire series, July 9, 1999

This review is from: Amanda (Sunfire) (Paperback)
I read this one long ago, and in my opinion, it remains one of the most well-crafted Sunfires. Amanda is a believable heroine, and the historical details are interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRING OUR ROMANCES BACK!, December 8, 1999
This review is from: Amanda (Sunfire) (Paperback)
Amanda was an amazing book! I'm very young and I loved it. Most romance books are above my level, not reading material for me. These romances are historical, but not all *mushy* romantic. Once I had an aching pain in my throut (I can't spell) and it was just constantly ripping at me. So I picked up AMANDA. When I started reading, I forgot about my throut! It was wonderful! I got 2 of the romances at my school "birthday book" program, but couldn't find them anywhere else! The next year when I got my "birthday book" they didn't have them anymore! I really would like to collect the series, so I'd love it if they'd be kind enough to bring them back! PLEASE! Read the books, they're great!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Sunfire!, March 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Amanda (Sunfire) (Paperback)
This was one of my favorite Sunfires! It starts out sort of stupid, but as you go it gets better and better! I have found that many of the Sunfire books are boring because the heroines are dull and predictable, but not this one! Amanda has lots of personality, and proves just how strong she is. I reccommend this to anyone that likes to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Favorite Of Mine!, January 28, 2000
This review is from: Amanda (Sunfire) (Paperback)
I have never been a romance reader, but I picked up this book because I love history, and hoped the book would be interesting. I loved the book, and feel it is a wonderful story for young women to read. It was many years ago when I read the sunfire series, but was hoping to find them so that our library could order them. The sunfire books are great stories and teach a fascinating history lesson as well!

By A Customer
This review is from: Amanda (Sunfire) (Paperback)
I thought the book was great so deteailed and always making you anxious and sitting on the tip of your chair. I'm 13 and to get me to sit and read a book is tough but when I read Amanda I couldn't put it down. It's exciting, romantic, and adventures. I enjoyed this book so well I went and got more. Thank you for putting your time into writting exciting books and I hope you keep writting! Sincerly yours, Nichole Otto

4.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Candice Ransom's books were the best, November 24, 1997
By
This review is from: Amanda (Sunfire) (Paperback)
While I cannot remember specifics from any of the Sunfire books, I recall the series with fondness as I read all of them in Junior High School, sparking my interest in historical fiction. Candice Ransom's books, like this one, were the best and though they follow a formula (girl meets 2 boys, one good for her, one bad) they were well researched an very interesting. I wish they were still available.
