This review is from: Amar a Morir (DVD)
I knew nothing about this film when I came across it. Took the chance and watched it and came away quite impressed by the powerful story and its beautiful yet tragic characters. Director Fernando Lebrija offers his viewers a story of love, of a redemption of sorts, of people living life with their dark secrets and inescapeable baggage. This is a film of two young lovers (well-played by Jose Maria de Tavira and Martina Garcia) who long to escape the prison of their current life, who long to run away together, and who want to love each other until the end. Do they succeed? Watch "Amar a Morir". You will not be disappointed. It's an excellent film with an unusual setting; the bulk of the film takes place amidst the beauty of some of Mexico's finest beaches. Surfing even features in this movie, providing a contrast between the tranquil peace attained when one is riding the waves and the turmoil of life on land with its ups and downs.
