Book Description

3 and up
An adventure story about Amos and his motorized couch. Amos meets various strange characters at the park and becomes involved with the local circus. The authors' first book in this series was "Amos; The Story of an Old Dog and His Couch".

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

It only makes sense that the very zippy Amos: The Story of an Old Dog and His Couch would garner a sequel, since Amos had only just begun to learn how to motor the couch around town. In this book, he drives it to the park but finds that a circus has taken up residence there. "Amos had never seen such a peculiar crowd. And they had never seen a dog drive a couch." Amos starts practicing with the other members of the circus, but when he gets home at night, he is so tired and lethargic that his owners, the Bobsons, begin to worry about him. On the day that he is told to stay home and nap, he sneaks out anyway, and ends up performing wonderful stunts at the circus. And the Bobsons, in the audience, understand that that their dog--and his couch--is no stranger to the big top. This is a far-fetched, funny follow-up, and this time the action takes place in full-color. Amos's antics are comically drawn--readers will love the pictures of him revving up for a trick. There seems no limit to what this dog--and his couch--can do. Ages 4-8.

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 2-- The Bobsons' dog, Amos, last seen in Amos: the Story of an Old Dog and His Couch (Little, 1987), careens out of the house one morning (atop his special couch) and discovers something quite unusual happening at the park. The circus has come to town, and he is treated to all of its strange and peculiar sights, sounds, and people. No one there has ever seen a dog drive a couch before, and he becomes a celebrity in his own right. Adventures abound and Amos becomes the star attraction of the circus--much to the delight and surprise of his family sitting in the audience during the opening performance. A lively pace of text and exhuberant colorful cartoon illustrations combine to provide fun and fantasy for young browsers and readers. Amos is sure to become a favorite--and he won't sit on the shelf long between circulations. --Mary Lou Budd, Milford South Elementary School, Ohio

This book was always a favorite with my 3 girls! Now one of them is 27 and has an Irish Setter of her own! She remembered a story about the old Dog and his couch, but couldn't remember it's name....I found it here on Amazon and it was a hard cover, and even signed! Great little book, awesome illustrations, and long remembered!
