My wife and I have never had either an Android or Apple phone or tablet until a few weeks ago. We picked up a couple of Samsung Galaxy 3 phones with the Android operating system. We have had PCs since the command line years, and decided that we want to load up on some useful Android apps. Being newbies to Android, we had no preconceptions about which apps we might want and thew strengths and weaknesses of each. I am prone to want to recreate the useful organizing functions of trusty old Palm Pilot, while my wife is a big fan of social and networking applications. I found the book nicely organized into categories, with colorful illustrations that show most of the interfaces, usually on two facing pages. Nice and easy to use and read. After a detailed description of the uses of the apps and some helpful suggestions about usage, the author sums up with a short "Best Features" and "Worst Features summary that is useful to me because I read that one first!

If you are Android Dummies like ourselves, this is our trusty reference. Many of us are just moving to Smartphones, and for us this sort of thing is essential. If you have a family member who is new to Android (probably over 50 years old!) I think it's a great little gift and certainly worth the $12 price tag! A nice companion piece would be Android Phones For Dummies, which is, as advertised, for the newcomer to Android.

I recently came out of the stone age and purchased a smart phone. Even though I have designed circuity for computers I couldn't figure out how to answer it. This book was a great help, after I figured out what an app was.

Going thru Amazing Android Apps for Dummies was fun. Checked a lot of apps, downloaded them and then had to decide which ones to keep. The decision was not easy.

I'm a new user of a tablet, so I thought this book would help me find some useful apps. I didn't find it to be of much help. I've found more just browsing on my own. It's not very comprehensive. I know the author probably worked hard writing this, but it just did not work for me. Should you decide to buy it, I hope it helps you. To be honest, I would bypass this one. Sorry.

This book is a very good start, however a reviewed version with the latest Applications would be wonderfull. Some apps are quite old.
