Tropical Birds is filled with enough did-you-knows to keep just about any conversation going. Did you know flamingos are pink because the shrimp they eat colors their feathers? Did you know that an Egyptian vulture preys on an ostrich egg by throwing rocks at it? Did you know that pelicans nest in a huge colony to protect their young from predators? You get the picture, and it's a splendid one since tropical birds are known for their beauty. What's amazing is how the Amazing Animals series can continually feature such wide-ranging shots of animals in their element. Some of the footage is giggle-inducing (certain male birds showing off by bopping up and down in a field) or sentimental (lovebirds who mate for life), but most of it is mesmerizing.
