More About the Author

Hi,

I've been writing in earnest since 1998, when I started A Gift of Poetry (dot com) which is still alive and well today (please Google A Gift of Poetry and you'll find it). I have since broadened my horizons and now write books on a wide variety of subjects. Two of my big passions are cooking and vegetable gardening so there are quite a few that focus on growing or picking your own and cooking from scratch. The vast majority of my recipes have all been tried and tested and honed over a number of years. Most agree the results are delicious (well, that's what they tell me :) so please do try a couple of recipes and let me know how you get on. I've also written a few self help books and (IMHO) The 77 Secrets is definitely worth a read. I also publish and market for other aspiring authors and help them become known in the marketplace. So, all in all, pretty busy but enjoying life. I hope you are too (if not, please read The 77 Secrets :).

All the very best, Allen xx

Some great, unique recipes with a UK twist! Now the challenge is locating some of the ingredients like those king prawns!

I got this Kindle edition free and of course, I knew my husband would enjoy a few things. Plus, it gave me some tips on throwing a nice BBQ get together with our friends..New goodies as soon as spring arrives!

Well, Mr. Jesson does write about a number of different techniques for barbecue, but of them all, I'd say only one is really a true BBQ dish: the 10-Hour Pulled Pork. As for the rest, sealing fish in aluminum foil with a mayo dressing may be uniquely British, but I wouldn't be caught dead doing it and calling it BBQ. Not a word about cedar planking or using rubs? Then there's meatballs, which belong in a pot not a grill. Finally, no mention of that modern gift to outdoor cooks, the gas grill?

The e-book's style is friendly and breezy, but it's not in any way a shop manual for BBQ cooks, nor a very good how-to guide for new grillers. I can't really recommend it, as there are lots of better recipe sources out there.
