4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book March 28, 2011
By Bob
Format:Kindle Edition
Although this is a compilation from material available on the internet it does have 27 amazing cake recipes which I wish I had when my daughter was young. My only reservation with the recipes is that some require a fair degree of engineering knowledge as one for instance uses a modified chocolate fountain be careful as liquids and electricity do not mix.
The book stretches the Kindle to its limit, with extensive photographs, which can be zoomed to see greater detail and sometimes beyond as not only are there links to other web sites but also a video which will not work on the Kindle. If only the compiler, I will not call them an author, had looked more carefully at the finished article and removed duplicate links and photographs this would have been a 5 * book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for those needing ideas for cake contests December 14, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Six years ago I was introduced to one of the most amazing competitions I have seen, the cub scout annual cake contest and chili dinner.

What I anticipated was simple cakes decorated a bit by scouts. OOOPS was I wrong. These weren't simple cakes, these were mega designs. These were incredible ideas that I would never try on my own time. These were super wonderful cakes! The bidding on these cakes STARTED at $25, and some actually sold at the auction for more than $500.

If you are the parent of a scout, or of some other child needing impressive ideas for a cake contest, this book is a must-have for your Kindle. I have an iPad and loaded it onto my Kindle app, and it was a perfect match. The colors, the designs all loaded well, and the links worked easily within the book as well.

However, if your idea of decorating a cake involves a can of Betty Crocker frosting and some sprinkles, this is Not the book you want. You will end up feeling guilty looking at the pictures of all of the things you can do with a cake that you would never dare try.

A great job by the author of bringing this book of amazing cakes to life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiration at its finest! December 27, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book, created from the "Instructables" website for constructing fabulous, conversation-piece cakes, runs the gamut from "I can do that!" to "Are you kidding me?" But it is surprising what a little imagination and lots of marshmallow fondant can accomplish. Right now this one is free, so what have you got to lose? With these instructions, some things I would never have tried on my own actually seem possible. Maybe I'll try a design of my own for my son's next birthday...

2.0 out of 5 stars I've read better cake books May 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I guess if you're looking for something difficult to make and a long tedious cookbook, then look no further. This did have some good ideas, just too much trouble when you want something done faster.

1.0 out of 5 stars IF YOU BELIEVE May 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
You are getting what is on the cover in this book forget it. It just seems a rehash of a lot of other professional peoples books and web sites and not well done at that.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just a half a$$ed collection of web-based how tos February 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ok, I can't complain too much when it's free - but they really didn't try too hard on this one. It's just a collection of random cake tutorials from various blogs online. The cake on the cover is the only one that is remotely cool and by far the best in the book, the rest range from mediocre to downright ugly and unprofessional. You're better off just Googling for cake ideas.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worthless February 12, 2013

Awful book. Seriously, don't waste time to download this. The cakes are horrible, didn't find a single one worth making. They are sloppy, amateurish and the book layout is just terrible
