This review is from: Amazing Gracie (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a good book about a girl named Graci and her problems. Gracie is glad that she lookslike her mom, but she really doesn't want to have her personality or attitude. She doesn't want to have those things because she has depression "episodes." Gracie is not only dealing with her mothers problems, but other teenage issues also. One day her mom announces that she is marrying Pete who is a real dork involved in stocks. Marrying Pete also means thats she is stuck with a 5 yr. old step brother. Not only until the wedding does gracie find out that shes moving to salt lake city utah. In some ways the move is good. She gets her first boyfriend Timo, who really understands her. She finds new friends and getss to see her life through a new view. For her mom and pete the move is a terrible change. Her mom goes through another phase of depression and ends up trying to commit suicide but thankfully fails. Pete's job turns out to be a joke. Its up to Gracie to hold her family together. Can someone her age do all that? Find out by reading ~AMAZING GRACIE~

Kim's Amazing Review,
By kim (Mannford Oklahoma) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Amazing Gracie (Mass Market Paperback)
Amazing Gracie by A.E. Cannon is an amazing story that deals with how a teenage girl helps her mother deal with very bad depression. Gracie and her mother are a perfect example of a mother/daughter-sister/sister relationship. They look and act alike, they dress alike and sometimes they will finish each other's sentence. Their friends tell them they could even be twins. Then her mom meets a new guy and they get married and they move to a new town. Her mom's husband has also got a son who Gracie will learn to love as her own little brother. Gracie then meets her first boyfriend Tiimo. Then her mom tries to commit suicide and everything goes downhill from there. Gracie must do something to help her mom before there is nothing she can do. I liked this book because I can relate to it. When I was about 13 my mom went through some really bad times. I had to do a lot around the house. This was also a time when my 6year old nephew was living with us so I had to help take care of him also. I hope that people who have suffered from depression will read this book.

I really enjoyed this book. Gracie must deal with a new stepfamily, a move to Salt Lake City, her mother's depression, and a new boyfriend. These are problems teenagers have to deal with all the time and I liked a book that told of another girl's problems.

Amazing Gracie,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Amazing Gracie (Mass Market Paperback)
Every kid has responsibilities. It may be doing chores, help out around the house or do homework, but take care of a whole family? Well, that's what's expected of Gracie. Gracie is a young girl who has a depressed mother that marries a man named Peter. Peter is great and her mother loves him but he can be very inconsiderate and irresponsible. As though that wasn't enough now Gracie is unwillingly leaves her hometown and all her friends and goes to Salt Lake City with her new family. With her mother depressed and her stepfather low on finance, Gracie is taking care of and sharing a room with her little five-years-old step brother, Sinjin. The only good thing about all this is that Gracie meets a boy named Timmo, who she really likes. Gracie is cheerful and tries to make the best out of every thing even though everything is falling apart. She puts her family's needs first before hers. Her mother is mentally sick of depression and attempts suicide so it was Gracie who had all the responsibility of everything. Now it's up to Gracie to keep her new family together. I believe the book Amazing Gracie is worth sharing. I strongly recommend this book to anyone struggling through a crisis. This book gives hopes and encouragements to anyone who needs it. -Ruth S.

Amazing Gracie,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Amazing Gracie (Mass Market Paperback)
Amazing Gracie is an okay book. It's not the best book that I've read, but its certainly not the worst. One thing I like about this book is that it's written in understandable terms. The kids in the novel used words for their age levels, words that the reader could easily understand. One thing I didn't like about this novel is I feel it moved too quickly. The author didn't spend enough time explaining one event before she moved to the next. In one chapter Gracie was in Salt Lake City, the next in the small town she moved from, and then the next back in Salt Lake. Another thing I liked was the fact that you could picture everything going on in your mind. The author explained how each person looked and what the setting at the time loked like throughly. The worst part of the book was when Gracies mother Cynthia was put in the hospital. It wasn't the worst because of how the author wrote it, but because of how sad it was. With the way her mother was acting , you could kind of suspect something like this happening, but i think it came to surprise to Gracie. She knew her mother was in bad shape, but I dont think she really thought of something like that ever happening again. In this novel, the characters and settings were both throughly explained. There was enough detail to picture what the character looked like and, by the way they acted, the type of personality they had. The settings were explained enough that you could picture what the placed looked like. It gave specific objects, colors, locations, etc. The detailing in this book was great.

**Amazing Gracie**,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Amazing Gracie (Hardcover)
At first I found this book interesting. As I kept reading I found the book sort of sad. I think the mom is trying to hard to be young. I feel bad for Gracie though, it must be annoying to have a dork for a dad. Also, I think the book is a little to dramatic. Overall the book wasn't the type of genre I enjoy.

This is the kind of book I love: It grabs you into the story right away, and I enjoyed it so much that when it ended I wanted it to keep going. Gracie is a independent and unique character, and her problems are things a lot of people can relate too, but the storyline is still unique. If you like realistic fiction about teenagers and lif in general, you should definately read this book. Even if you don't, try it anyway, you might get into it.

A wonderful story of a teenager's pain & triumph!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Amazing Gracie (Hardcover)
Gracie reflects a teenager who is faced with real problems that people don't want to discuss. She is transcendent to age because we can all relate to the pain on life's journey. We watch her as she develops an inner character that comes only from suffering. This seems to be a concept that our teenager's have missed out on in today's society. They need to hear this message.
