This review is from: Amazing Jellies: Jewels of the Sea (Hardcover)
I have recently begun to study jellyfish, at this point more interested in photographs and brief descriptions rather than full pages of scientific data. My study is writer-related rather than scientifically related, so 'Amazing Jellies' was perfect for my goal. It is also nice if you are looking for a special jelly book for a school age child with advanced reading skills.
The pictures are plentiful and exceptionally good. The brief information provided covers types of jellies, the parts of the jellyfish, jelly forms, their lifecycles, how they move around, and what they eat (not to mention what eats them). The font is a bit small for the younger grade-school set, and the longer words are not 'played down' so some of the reading could be difficult for the younguns. The book itself is small, only six-by-six inches, so it shouldn't be confused with a coffee-table book. If you are looking for a pretty, inexpensive beginning point for information on jellyfish, this book is a nice place to start. Enjoy!
